DVD better on LCD..?

I can't help but be amazed how great movies look on my portable DVD player. The picture is so sharp and the colors amazing.

Is this the case with laptops and LCD TV's?
Just wonder if my next TV purchase should be LCD..

The picture is so sharp because it's so small!

Portables don't have enough pixels to fully display the image. It would look terrible if it were blown up. Larger displays, with enough pixels can do a fairly decent job, but you have to be so close to them that you can make out the pixels. (nless you get really big, like a plasma screen.)

Does this mean that laptop screens, being fairly large, don't look as nice as, say, a portable DVD player? I doubt this is the case, but I'm just making sure.

Laptop screens look very nice, depending on the screen's resolution and scaling of course. And from what I've seen, they look much better than a portable DVD player. But they're not going to look like a RPTV or even a good direct-view TV.

DVDs on a G4 Ti laptop look better than on a portable DVD player.
