computer speaker subwoofer to home theater?
I got 2 computer speaker sets that both contain 140 watt subs. I was wondering if it's possible to hook these up to my home theatre system.. do you have to get some kind of converter so it fits into the subwoofer out part of the home theatre system?
Also, how can I hook both of them up together?
Thanks a lot guys!

I am guessing these subs take mini jack RCAs so just go to radio shack and buy a converter which will convert standard RCA down to minijack (ask them, they will know what you need). If you want to hook both up, you will have to probably buy a Y- adapter (unless your receiver has 2 sub outputs) to split the signal from the receiver than off of that Y hook up a RCA to mini-jack converter.
As for using computer subs, trust me on this one, they are not 140 watt subwoofers. Computer speakeres from off brands over rate like crazy or use ratings referring to a wattage burst for less than a second. I am also guessing they have smallish drivers (6 maybe 8 inch woofers) which will not give you anywhere near the low end extension for film soundtracks. I would say they would be better than nothing, but not even a comparison to a decent true 140 watt home subwoofer.

It will work, I did it with mine. Follow the Radio Shack directions and it should go fine. I'll 2nd the chance that they're going to be a poor substitute for a real sub though. Most are. They will more than likely be much quieter too. But, it's better than nothing.

He didn't list his other gear, so it's difficult to tell. About the only thing
a PC sub would help, though, is a couple of tiny Bose cubes.

Thanks guys.
I only have a Sony DAV-S300 all in one type combo thing, so I'm sure they're good enough for me! Right now I use the sub that came with it.. it's not that great, so I'm sure it'll work better!
yo2tup, you're right about the speaker system!
Is 3 4-inch drivers good?
