I have a Pioneer 414(I Think) which seems to be giving me problems. I put in a DVD and after they play for a while, the DVD player will power of, or go back to the menu. This seems to hapen on some of the older DVD's i have such as X men, Iron Giant, etc.
I also noticed the movie 102 Dalmations which freezes at 64 mintutes into the movie???
Any ideas? Is it my player or is it the DVD?
Any help would be appreciated.

Could be the laser lense is dirty. I had a freezing, skipping problem that went away when I cycled a cd laser cleaner through it. It wan't more than a soft brush attached to the cd that wiped away som lint. try it.

If it always freezes at the exact same point in the movei, it could be the layer change as well. Try cleaning the lens, but if that doesn't work, it could be that the laser is having trouble refocusing onto the second layer.

I'm having the same problem with a Panasonic RV-65 - and it might have something to do with the second layer on this disc (Dude, Where's My Car) because anything after 54 minutes does it, which sucks.
Disc works in another player (Panasonic A120)
Anything I can do, or am I out $20?
