Well, make sure you get a DVD player that can output DTS sound. Most players have the small DTS logo on them. To get DTS sound with your receiver, you will need to connect a digital coaxial or digital optical cable from the DVD player to your receiver. Your receiver should have these connections. Myself, I have a Toshiba 2109 player -- coaxial cable ---> JVC DD/DTS receiver = great sound.

Your receiver (or DVD player) can decode DTS if if has the DTS logo on it.
sorta like...
If your player has the following logo, then it can pass a DTS signal, but not decode it:
You will most likely have to turn on DTS in teh player's setup.
sorta like...
Code:
digital
DTS
sound
Code:
DTS digital out

let's not forget that you don't have to buy a digital coaxial cable -- you just have to use one of the two audio cords from your RCA connector. That's what I do, and it still sounds great.
