I am thinking of buying a Sony STR-DB930, in Mint Condition, about a Year old, for £180.00 (About $256.00), but would like to hear what the Forum Members have to say with regard to the latter Amp and whether you think its worth the Price.
I would be plugging; 2x Tannoy MX1, 2x Tannoy MX4 and Tannoy MXC, and a Philips DVD710 (Only upgrading the Player at the End of the Year), into it, over and above the rest, i.e. VCR, TV, etc.
Thanking you in advance.

I've had a DB-940 (same model, one year newer) since December, and I couldn't be happier. The DB series has many of the internal components as the ES series, but at a lower price. It's a tweaker's dream -- variable bass management, 3-way parametric EQ, etc.
See if you can borrow it to try with your speakers in your listening room.

Thanx for the Post Lazlo, got the following from another Post ... another Forum ...
Dunno about the Sony. But I've heard some have had problems with hum/buzz audible at relatively moderate volume levels - might be worth checking up on this (sounds like a transformer issue).
Any Ideas ??

I also have the STR_DB930 and love it with no thoughts of having to upgrade it. I have had it over a year and paid almost $500 on sale at the time. I don't think you could go wrong at that price.

I bought my db930 a little over two years ago and I love it. I got a great deal from oade.com and got it for just over $300 (and this was when it was a brand new model!).
Check out the reviews at audioreview.com. The db-930 scores very, very well.
Good luck.

Ditto. Especially since my DVD player, TV and CD changer are Sony, all the better (remote wise).

Great receiver. Love the DD and DTS capability. I've had mine for well over a year and love it.
For $250 you can't go wrong.

I've had the DB 930 for a couple of years now and love it. It produces great sound and has all the features you could want. DD and DTS. S-Video switching. Both coax and optical digital audio inputs...
Go for it.
