I would not recommend a Sony. I would recommend a Pioneer CLD-D703 or CLD-D704. There is a Mitsubishi that is really the same unit with a different front panel, but I don't recall the model number off hand. It is cheaper on eBay, since most people don't know it is a Pioneer.

These models have excellent reliability and video quality. The 704 is the same as the 703 except it adds Dolby Digital RF output (AC-3). You can modify the 703 to add this for $75.

To use the Dolby Digital RF output, you need a Receiver that accepts that signal (getting rare) or a converter called an RF Demod, also getting hard to get. I do believe that Sony's direct store still gets them in stock for $110 if Dolby Digital AC-3 sound is worth it for you.

All newer players will play DTS digital sound, and most will auto-flip the disc (actually they flip the head), which is a nice feature.

Check eBay. Note....these things do not always ship well, so get some guarantee or find a local seller.

I've owned five Pioneer ld players over the years,
including my present DVL-909. I highly recommend
them, I've never had a problem with any player.
