I recently purchased a yamaha dvd player(DV-6280) and a yamaha receiver(HTR-5460) and I have a 6 year old Toshiba TV. My problem is after I hooked everything up I am able to get a picture but no sound when I play DVD's. Does anyone have any suggestions on trouble shooting this problem before I take the DVD player into the store to have it checked out (I'm assuming the issue is with the DVD player since the tuner, tv, and vcr are able to play sound.)? Thanks in advance.

Check your audio settings on the DVD players Set-Up menu.

Need more info: how do you have the DVD player connected to the receiver?
