I have an RCA DVD player, Model # RC5215P.

Anyhow, my question is: It doesn't matter if I have the player on or off, on the top part of the player, above the display, it is always warm. Is this suppose to be warm, even though it's not being used?

The rest of the player is cold when not in use, other than that one spot.

Thanks.

I have an RCA 5220P (the predecessor to the 5215) and mine is a little warm on the top in a spot. The 5220P is a very well made unit, much more substantial that the 5215P, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was much warmer than the 5220P.

Your DVD player is probably like most electronic components these days. Even though you turn it "off", there is still power going to the unit and probably to the transformer. The warmness you feel is probably the heat coming off the transformer. They do this with TV's, etc for "instant on". Otherwise you would end up waiting a small amount of time for the electronics to warm up and come on.

I also owned RCA 5215P and yes its warm on the top when it is off.But I usually just unplugged my player when I not using it likes going to bed or going out of town.Other then that, I have no problem playing my movies on it with the exception of Dinosaur:CE which skipped badly everytime I played it, but a lots of people could not played this disc on other model player beside RCA.
