These two disc cost the same so I was wondering which one would be better. I've read the reviews on both on Amazon and it seems there are an equal number of people that like one over the other.

I know Avia is better for video calibration. I have them both and Avia is much easier to understand and use.

Not sure about which is better for audio calibration.

i have both, and although each does a great job, i tend to use Avia. some advantaves of Avia over VE:

* Avia's menus are easier and faster to navigate.

* Avia does NOT require your DVD player to pass a below black signal to set brightness.

* Avia's audio tests are better.

* Avia has a more extensive suite of video tests (though for most people these tests provide no real advantage as they will go unused)

Thanks for all the help, I think I'm going to go with the Avia.

Not that it matters now. But I've used both and think Avia is far better.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that VE offers a seperate LFE signal for calibrating subs. Avia does not, and is a pain for those will full-range mains, as Avia routes the LFE signal to your main speakers (if set to 'large' in your controller), and you have to reset your mains to 'small' and have the signal fed to your sub(s) that way. Too much hassle. I do prefer Avia for video calibrations and overall 'user-friendliness', even if the two guys hosting it are dorks.
