I want to upgrade my old TV and am looking at the 36" Sony Wega. I will have a satellite dish if that makes any difference.
Based on my research, I'm leaning towards the 36" Sony Wega, however, given the high sticker price, I wonder if I should be considering another TV in that price range.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Also, should I get the XBR model? the salesperson is pushing it but I don't see the need to pay more for it.
Thanks.

In that price range, I think you would be better off going with the RCA/Pro Scan 38" Widescreen Direct View HD Monitor over the Sony which is just a traditional 4:3 aspect ratio and you'll have those black bars takign up 1/2 your screen when watching a DVD although the anamorphic squeeze presents a great picture but the RCA and ProScan will do just as good on the entire screen.
Best Buy and Circuit City both currently have this model for $2999.99
The place where I got my HD Monitor has them
RCA F38310 $2599.00 - including delivery to your door

ProScan PS38000 $2699.00 - including shipping

Also the RCA/ProScan HD tunner is under $500 it will do Direct TV and over the air broadcasts
RCA DTC-100 (that's what I'm using)
ProScan PS-HD105

The shipping included in the price makes this an exceptionally good deal and if you're outside of Pennsylvania you won't have to PA sales tax, so its an even better deal that way.
