Hi--ive been noticing a few things for a while. Does it seem to anyone else that some stores seem to be trying their hardest NOT to sell their high-ticket items? I mean, the HD-ready Toshibas, Pioneers, the new 38" RCA Widescreen....theyve got the same old, 8th generation Best Buy promo running through it.

Dont you think that maybe, just perhaps, they would try to showcase some of these items, maybe to turn the average Joe's eyes? I dunno--i just get discouraged sometimes by idiotic stores.

Well stop going to these "idiotic stores", and start going to your local specialty retailer. They will be price competitive as well as helpful. Support them and the will support you in return.

Not In Little Rock, Arkansas. They charge twice as much and tell you that the ones from Best Buy/Circuit City are seconds and rejects. Our local specialty dealer tries to sell uniden DSS systems and Mitsubishi TV's as High-End

What is wrong with Mitsubishi TV's? Why are they not high-end?

I consider Mitsubishi TV's to be one of the best brands out there!

I tried to have this discussion at my local Best Buy one day.

The attitude is "we don't work on commission" so they could care less whether you buy something or not. As for demo material, again they have no interest in showing features or products.

This store is a box merchant, a cd is the same as a big screen tv to them.

"Average Joe" doesn't have the money to buy widescreen tv's so there not going to put as much effort into selling them. Home theater buffs are going to do their research before hand and come into the store knowing what the want, and if they price is right or not. Plus, as mentioned above, their employees aren't paid commission, so why should they care? I wouldn't put any effort into trying to make sales either if I worked there. You got to give your employees some motivation, otherwise they are going to do the least amount of work they can get by with. Especially with crappy part time jobs like these.
