A friend and I are moving into an apartment soon, and we have our hearts set on buying a widescreen television. We already have everything else you could imagine for the rest of the setup (Bose Surround Sound, 5 Disc DVD Changer, bla bla bla) but we need a Widescreen TV. I know there are a LOT of knowledgeable people on here, so I was wondering if you guys could help us out. What's the best brand, etc?
Just for record: we are willing to spend up to $2-$3k for the TV.

Depending on space and what you want to spend.
On the low end you could get the Toshiba 40".
I have this tv and love it. If you will be sitting 7" - 9" from the tv this may be what you want.
If you have more room, you may want to get the 56", you can probably find it for your high end (3K).
I highly recommend the Toshibas, they do a great job.
The Mits aren't bad either though.
And I'm waiting to check out the Panasonic 46" coming out in June for roughly $1,999. Should be a bargain, I already saw one website selling it for $1,600.

Man be careful about that room mates buying things together thing...Sometimes those room mates things dont work out too well and you dont want to have to fight over the TV if something like that happened. Try to have just one person buy it and someone buy some other stuff....Or work out a plan.

This is the perfect tv to go with a Bose system. It's a match made in heaven. http://www.100inchtv.com If this unit is too big, Toshiba and Panasonic make smaller ones.

IMHO, the perfect large screen TV for your system will be Toshiba 61" HDTV-Compatible Projection TV 61H70. It has ColorStream HD component video inputs, the best inputs to use for today's high-resolution digital sources, such as a DVD player or an HDTV set-top box. If it is large for your room, choose RCA P52921 52" Projection Stereo Monitor TV
or RCA 36" Multimedia Monitor MM36110.
