I think I know why now which is why I hate PM's (1000 char limit ) and request email if at all possible. I had too much to say (yeah wait until you read this!), so when I hit send it never went through, and then a little while later my pc crashed hard (ntoskrnl.exe and other corrupt system files, still recovering/can't boot yet), so I never saw the message it didn't go through.
Now I'm on a backup pc that would've been recycled today if my other pc didn't die today. Phew, that was close!

Anyway onto your question, I have to post here cause like I said already, I had too much to say.

as if a single dvd needed all this info, but here it is anyway...

The UPC is scratched through. The dvd is still sealed but there is a scratch through the plastic covering on the back where the UPC is to prevent it from being scanned in the computer. You see this in discount stores sometimes as they will do this to prevent customers from returning an item at retail for full value. This is also the case sometimes with items you get for "free" from mail-in offers, etc. Most recent example of this being the 5 Free HD-DVD offer when you buy a player (before HD-DVD died): The free dvds from the offer that were from Universal Studios had the UPCs scratched through. Other methods to prevent unauthorized returns on discounted items include putting stickers over the UPC area, or crossing through it with a marker, etc.

The scratch through on this dvd isn't that bad, it's only on the far right side of it, not all the way through. I can provide scans if wanted.

Also remember there is a floater in the case too...

History of the DVD

A fellow dvdtalker bought this at Big Lots for $4.00 and traded it to me. When it arrived, there was a floater in the case, so I didn't open it. I've since got another one, so I don't need this anymore. The likelihood that the floater is all scratched to hell is probably pretty slim. The person who sent it to me does not remember there being a floater, which means it probably got jarred in shipment, and couldn't have been floating around for too long. If there is any problem with the dvd, it can be fixed with a home dvd repair kit, or for like $1 at a local dvd rental shop who has a professional resurfacer, they might fix it for you.

If anyone is really interested in the dvd, I can actually open it and do an inspection myself (but then it'll be used right? GASP!), and even fix it if needed too (GASP! GASP!).

Sorry to hear about the computer situation, but thanks for getting back to me.

I'll almost certainly take this DVD off of your hands. If I do buy it, I'd like to have you open it up and secure the disc before shipping though, if possible. And I wouldn't mind seeing a scan of that scratch when you get a chance.

In the mean time, I'm going to try and stop by the local Big Lots, if it's still even open. How long ago did you acquire this?

It is a Warner title, and Big Lots gets very little Warner stuff. I got this dvd in November I think, and haven't seen any Warner stuff in my area since around October. Big Lots does have some good Sony and HBO stuff right now, so it might be worth a look.

I'll scan the dvd asap.
