TRADE ISSUE QUESTION - WHAT WOULD YOU DO/SHOULD I DO?

I made a Big Lots trade that seemed to go fine, but upon opening the title I received, I discover NO DISC INSIDE!! :(

So, through no fault of the trader who sent it to me (it was a sealed $3 title after all), I am out of my half of the trade. How do I handle this fairly? I don't just want to send my trade out, so there's no gain at all on my part, but want to be fair to the trader, and not screw him out either.

Options...?
1) Send my part of the trade to the other trader, and just lose out and have nothing.
RESULT: I get nothing for my troubles, and am out a set which I traded and roughly $2 in shipping. The trader gets his set, I lose roughly $5.
2) Send the title back to the trader, he can return it for the $ he spent. We are both out roughly $2 each for shipping the title back and forth.
RESULT: We both lose roughly $2, and get nothing.
3) I could (with one of my receipts, ya know, common UPC's, I think I have one...) return the disc-less title to a BL store near me, and get $3 back, and then send my part of the trade to the other trader.
RESULT: I'm out roughly $2 for shipping and a set for trade. Trader gets his set. I really only lose roughly $2, but get nothing for my trouble, and now have a set less to trade which I feel is worth more than the $3 I paid for it.

...and after all this no matter what I do, I'd still like to get the set to the trader. Do we try to renegotiate another deal for something else?
