since we're on the subject, does anyone know any more "something weird video" titles that CH carries other than 'basket case'?

cool thread.. has anyone ordered a Tale of Two Sisters from them? I just used Funcash to buy it but was wondering what edition it was. It says it is a 2-disk title but it shows a picture of the one disk version (no blood on the girls) so conflicting information it seems.

I do not know what the one disc cover looks like, but I ordered it from CH a couple of years a go.
Do not remember if it was 2 disc(I got rid of it long a go),but I think the cover showed 2 young women sitting on a couch and,if I remember correctly, there was some blood.
Hope that helps.

I think it was a 2 disc set they were offering awhile ago, but I'm not sure anymore.

You can add Divergence to the Tartan list. I agree with everyone else, great idea for a thread!

OK i got my "A Tale of Two Sisters" DVD today and it is indeed th 2-disk Special Unrated edition of the film.
Very cool considering the list price they have for it should really match up with the 1-disk version.

Are there any more movies on columbiahouse (aside from the previously listed) that would be thought of as grindhouse or exploitation flicks? Any more really great uncut versions that people have been pleased to discover?

I found another ANCHOR BAY DVD:

"Vamp" Selection #: 4208500

"The Scorned 2 disk special" Selection #: 4576401 (unfortunately... this is an atrocious movie)

FROM TARTAN:

Sheitan Selection #: 4596607

Django is one of the best spaghetti westerns ever made.It stars my favorite actor,Franco Nero.
The 2nd disc is just a short film(i think it is less than 5 minutes)made a few years ago, also starring Nero, and it too is a western.
I have no idea why they couldn't have included it as an extra on disc 1,since it has a very short running time.

Nice recommendations Sweet Baby James.

Enter the Dragon is probably the best Kung Fu film EVER. Bruce Lee is the greatest. Way beyond his time.

Some other ones you might want to check out are:

Original in Cantonese w/English subs
Gorgeous
Thunderbolt
Once Upon A Time Trilogy

Dubbed in English
Meltdown (dubbed) originally titled High Risk
Who Am I (dubbed I think)
Rumble in the Bronx (dubbed)
First Strike (dubbed) originally titled Police Story 4: First Strike

I recommend getting them with original language if possible, but if you don't care if they are dubbed, those films are pretty good too.

Here's a review on Circle of Iron that you might be interested in... http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=28030

and since someone mentioned the protector ... here're some not-exactly-kung-fu-but-kickass-movies

Born To Fight Ultimate Edition (2 disks!)
and of course Ong Bak

Have not seen the Protector yet,but I highly recomend Born to Fight. Not really "kung fu",since it is Thai.I think the accurate term is Muay Thai.
They also have Drunken Monkey, which I thought was the original but is actually a remake(i think)starring Gordon Liu.
Jackie Chans The Myth is fun.Of course, don't expect to see him as nimble and quick as he was in Police Story or Project A.
Sure wish they would carry the Shaw Brothers DVDs.

How about "Kung Fu" (the TV series)? (-Ducks-)

It isn't a "kung fu" movie in the usual sense of the term, but I'll throw out Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. More of a romance with gorgeous cinematography and score. But there are plenty of fight sequences, mostly involving the female characters. In Mandarin with subtitles.

Don't forget the Tartan buyout or whatever it is. I don't think we'll be able to get those titles from CH for much longer, correct?
