amazing that this set was so cheap....8 movies (sadly, doesn't include Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down) and a 9th disk of extras and a set of mini-poster cards...you just need to print out descriptions of the movies and keep them with the set: no plot summaries anywhere in the box.

$9.98 shipping and $2+ tax just about kills this for me. Any strategies on how to avoid the steep shipping cost? I'm trying to order the Almodovar set and The Departed 2-disc. Total comes to $20.97 before shipping/tax.

What part of my post sounded like a "complaint" to you? $10 for shipping is steep for ground delivery. That's a fact, not a complaint. I've seen different shipping totals mentioned in this thread ($7.99 was one) and very few of the posts here indicate order totals. Was curious as to whether it was possible to score this set for less than $33 and change. If not, I'll probably order anyway. (I did say "just about kills," after all.)

If you got $10 funcash you could get Almodovar for $10.97 plus $7.99 shipping.

It is $9.98 shipping BTW because Departed is $1.99 shipping. Sometimes you get bogo and free shipping, but very rarely on box sets (only a couple of times last year IIRC)

No way to avoid the shipping, but if you want the Pedro set, it's the best price you're probably gonna get. Plus when you average it in with the rest of the dvds, you still come out with a dvd average of less than $5. Can't really beat that.

That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. Ordered the set and the Departed 2-disc. My gf--usually not easily impressed--was shocked at how great a deal this was. This set is $75+ at Amazon.

Just ordered this last night on the BOGO, so I guess I'll probably get the same email message at some point today. Hopefully they do get more in stock because the more I hear/read about the set, the more intrigued I become.

order mine earlier in the week and i havent gotten an email saying it is out of stock. on my main page it says your ordre shipped 2/15/07. we i go to order history it shows balance due of $32.xx. thats for the pedro set and shipping on free b1go dvds. hopefully its the pedro set that got shipped and not the free dvds.

Edit: Just got email and it was the pedro that shipped. i must have gotten one of the last copies of it or they got their new stock in fast

What happens with the Departed 2-disc I ordered as part of the BOGO if Almodovar is OOS? Will they charge me full price for it or give me an opportunity to add another BOGO title?

If the set doesn't come back in stock before their stated deadline, most likely they will just cancel the "Pedro" part of the order. So, you'd be paying $1.99 for The Departed shipped, and you'd still have to buy 2 fulfillments because the Pedro order doesn't qualify anymore since the fulfillment part of the order was cancelled.
No big deal really, basically you just got an extra title for only $1.99.

I am in the same boat and waiting to see what happens.

i haven't gotten a OOS email, but my account status shows 'Awaiting stock' and babel is shipping to me for $1.99. sounds good to me, i can wait for the next b1g1 offer.
