$5 web discount disappeared

Just a little heads up... i used the $5 web discount about 6 or 7 times in the past couple of weeks, and i just found out that they screwed me over and charged me full price anyways... just check it out and make sure they didn't do the same thing to you... i e-mailed them and hopefully they'll correct the error.... perhaps i might have to even get on the phone

I seriously doubt they're going to be sympathetic when you've used it 6 or 7 times. They're going to say it's only off the first order. I only placed two orders on the same account with the $5 discount and their system re-placed the orders without the discount. They wouldn't take the $5 off on but one order when I called about it. Placing orders on their site is like a casino game where you have to wait and see if your order goes through at the price it's supposed to. When it doesn't, it's very difficult to get the discounts back if you weren't really supposed to have them in the first place.

Fuck that noise! If CH tries to charge me extra than the agreed upon price when I placed the order, I would first contact them to try to resolve the problem. If they charged me more than what I authorized, I would dispute the charge with my credit card company. Fortunately for me, CH has always been very responsive when I need to resolve a billing snafu. They just credited me the $2.99 that they charged for shipping on Munich.

$5 isn't worth messing up a relationship with CH. If an initial email or phone call isn't successful, it's best to just move on and wait for the next CH snafu that will work in our favor. I've found that CH messes up as often in my favor as to my detriment. Why risk getting blacklisted for such a small amount of money? It's fairly apparent that the "rules" no longer support the $5 off for an initial order; even though their systems still "think" that may be the case.

i haven't used it that many times on the same account... on accounts 2 and 3, i placed 2 orders on each with the $5 off and all 4 orders got changed to add in an extra $5 + tax...

i agree, normally not worth risking it, but i'm moving to a new dorm room soon, so i can get an new address, credit card, etc, etc very easily.... not a big deal for me to get blacklisted...

I got the discount from following the link in their welcome email. But, true to form, they later took off the discount. I complained and their email claims they credited me $5, but I haven't checked my Mastercard account to see if they returned the money or not. Ask, and ye shall receive, unless you were abusing the system.

I asked, but didn't receive what I was looking for. As with other CH rule changes, there will be a period of time where some CSRs will accomodate and others will not. The last such period that comes to mind was when they quit treating the "3 for $25" purchases as meeting a purchase commitment. For a long time the system did this automatically. Then, the system quit working but most CSRs would make the adjustment. Finally, it just quit being honored. I think we'll see the same with the $5 off policy.

None of the backdoor approaches are working today. The $5 off is not even being applied. Guess I'm not ordering then

It worked for me this morning through the "Welcome to the Club" E-mail. It didn't show up at checkout at first, but I hit refresh and there is was.
