Thanks, I thought I might be something like that. The problem is it is hard to test codes because I don't know if the next page will be a credit card page or a "thank you for your order" page!

Not sure if someone want to try this one - B9V - it's a 1+1+5. You do have to pay S&H, but you only have to "buy" 1.

0.00+1.99=1.99
19.95+2.49=22.44
0.00+1.99=1.99 x 5 = 9.95

1.99 + 22.44 + 9.95 = 34.38 / 7 = 4.91 avg.

^ so wait...you pick 1 free one now and pay just the shipping, then you buy 1 for regular price plus shipping and then you get to pick out 5 more free ones plus the shipping for each of those?

hrmm...i wonder if those 5 free ones can be not-yet-enrollment titles ???

In our previous dealings with these type of offers, those last "freebies" have to be "available for enrollment".

If you use a b1g1 code, the avg goes down to $4.55.

I think your math may be a bit off a minor bit...

Regular shipping is $2.99 for the first and $1.99 for each additional. As I was unable to find *any* information on just how much shipping would be for the "5 free" DVDs I would assume they would be $2.99 each unless you redeemed them all at once to get reduced shipping. If that is the case a "worse case" scenario would be more like this:
0.00+1.99=1.99
19.95+2.99=22.94
0.00+2.99=2.99 x 5 = 14.95

1.99 + 22.94 + 14.95 = 39.88 / 7 = $5.70 avg.

Of course you would really want to maximize this with a B1G1 w/free ship for the enrollment title so it would really be $19.95 and the final would look more like this:

1.99 + 19.95 + 14.95 = 36.89 / 8 = 4.61 avg.

If you can redeem all 5 "free" vouchers at once for a lower s/h fee as "normal" then it would be $4 less.

1.99 + 19.95 + 10.95 = 32.89 / 8 = 4.11 avg.

Of course, assuming the 5 "free" selections ship for $1.99 each as did the original "free" DVD then it would be:

1.99 + 19.95 + 9.95 = 31.89 / 8 = 3.99 avg.

In any case this looks like it might be OK.

I just signed up with this code to give it a try since the "worst case" is not too bad. If it goes through I'll post the details on fulfillment.

Ok, I couldn't remember the $ for that 1st DVD in a normal order - been too long having to pay it.

However, based on that 1st order, I believe it's safe to assume that the final 5 freebies would be for the same S&H charges (you could argue that) of $1.99 each (or $9.95 for 5).

So,
1) W/out b1g1 & no free S&H, the avg is $4.98 (1.99+(19.95+2.99)+9.95 / 7)
2) With b1g1 & no free S&H, it comes to $4.60 (1.99+(19.95+0+2.99+1.99)+9.95 / 8)
3) With b1g1 & free S&H, it's $3.98 (1.99+(19.95+0)+9.95 / 8)

Of course, any 3rd title for the free S&H changes it even further.

Looks like LMT is dead. Signed up a couple weeks ago with it, and received a letter in the mail saying it is not longer a valid offer, but you can get this wonderful offer which requires you to buy only 5. Yea...thanks for that one!

I've put in two 76W apps in the last two weeks. Heard nothing on either one, and I haven't had an open account in a couple of years now.

Of course maybe that is because the PSN # I am using is on an account that I could never seem to remember to cancel the Director's Selection. I think I returned about 12. Then the letters from CH started to get a little more direct about my incompetence of being able to hit the "no thanks" button.

The PSN # I used is from a perfect account.
Could this one be 'done'?...argh.
The $12.89 charge never even made it to my credit card account, even as pending...is that a bad sign?

Just as I'm getting the hang of CH...they change all the good stuff.
ch.com...potentially the 76W code.

I'll report more if I have more to report!

I just called the main # to try and get the details (re: S&H charges) on the B9V offer and the CSR indicated it was not a valid code - so it doesn't work over the phone and she didn't have any details to provide.

98W was active though over the phone, so I used that one since my two web-based 76W applications seem to have gone into the CH vacuum.

Since I was impatient to get an account approved I have now applied once a week for three weeks w/ the same exact enrollment selections. I fully expect to go home in a few days and find 3 boxes of the same DVDs on my doorstep (or knowing CH, I will more likely end up with nothing at all).

Little hard to tell which codes are really "active" and which are not.

There are over 46K possible combinations of enrollment codes. I only get HTTP failures on a small percentage. This last time, I got 701 "null" hits(failures). That means I got "something" back on nearly 46K of those codes.

Really wish CH would turn those codes off - like they do the offer codes - would make finding them simpler.

I reported that one dead ~6 months ago. Several have tried since with the same results you got. And, yeah, the "alternate" offer really sucks.

Doh! Should have read the whole thread before trying to enroll. LMT had been my old stand-by. I've only done a few accounts over the past 3 years or so, but it's always worked well. Oh well. Hopefully 76W will work.

So far, nothing doing with the 76W code for me. No pending charge on my credit card, no nothing.

Applied a week ago.

How long do people usually wait before declaring an application dead and trying again? I don't want to sign up with the same enrollments and end with both apps getting accepted accidentally.

Wait 3-4 weeks before trying with same titles. 2 weeks or so with different titles. That way if the 1st one eventually goes thru, you won't have unwanted dups.

Just a general reminder about enrollment codes:

The fact that an application gets "lost" (disappears without a trace) or rejected (one gets a polite letter declining the application) has nothing to do with which code is used. We have tried to look for patterns for years and there just aren't any; Columbia House applications seem to be handled randomly. All one can do is keep trying on-line (most applications will disappear unless one is a CH newcomer), try on the phone (there are only a handful of good codes that work on the phone), or try a mail-in application if one is available with a good code on it.

The exception is when one gets a rejection letter that specifically says the code is invalid, as has been the case with LMT for some time now.

I realize that the tendency is to blame a lost application on the code and that we tend to want to try "hot" codes. But the simple fact is that for most of us, who have had more than a few accounts before, the vast majority of on-line applications will be lost or rejected. It isn't you, it isn't the code, it is just CH weirdness.

Question...If I'm signing up for a new account with my work address instead of home (where I currently have 2 accounts), and a PSN #...
and the credit card I'm using is linked to my home address...could that be a reason why my application didn't go through and I never saw a (pending) charge on my credit card statement??

On the enrollment page, it says 'shipping/billing' address, so I put in my work address.

Thanks for any help!

Well, because I'm impatient...I used 1KJ, no PSN, used home address with credit card # linked to home address...and, instantly, I have a pending charge on my credit card.
I think I've answered my own question then.

I'll probably be accepted twice. HA. Doubt that.

if you do, then just sell your dupes to DVDplanet once they get their used section back up and get store credit. then you can buy dvds that CH doesn't carry.

Try to avoid using the same credit card at two different addresses. Columbia House can, and has, searched out accounts by credit card number and blacklisted people using two addresses.

As to whether they check the billing address with the card company, I don't know.
