That's not how the offer works. Despite the come-on about getting "3 free DVDs when you complete your membership committment", It actually refers to buying three committments then getting one free DVD for each full price DVD purchased.

This business about getting three (or four) free DVDs when two are purchased is a GLITCH. It was never intended to work this way. It is possible that Columbia House will catch it and cancel or change the orders placed that do not have a one for one ratio of freebies to full price DVDs. More likely, the orders will go through and the code will be canceled in the near future.

These are the actual terms of offer code 807748:

Get a FREE DVD for every DVD you buy at the regular Club price ($19.95 or higher).

Order early and save more on Upcoming Releases!
Pre-order these highly anticipated titles for as low as $19.95 each -- then, you can take another DVD for free.

Note:

* A discounted Set or an Upcoming Release -- purchased at $19.95 or higher -- can also act as your qualifying purchase.
* Each Set used as a qualifying purchase counts as 1 unit and entitles you to 1 Free unit.
* Your FREE selections must be of equal or lower value to your qualifying purchase of $19.95 or higher.
* Some exceptions apply. Upcoming Releases, Sets, and other specially priced items will not participate in your regular offer as a free item.
* Taxes, where applicable will be added to each selection on all orders.

For the future, if you expect to use a B1G1F sale offer to fulfill a membership, it is best to decline the $14.95 bonus on the 6:1 code and turn it into a 5:2 code. This allows two freebies to be acquired, along with the two fufillments, and leads to a somewhat lower average cost for DVDs.

Has anyone else been charged yet using this code?
My total order came to $48.10, yet they only charged me $26.16.
All of the items ordered show up under the clickable order number.

They ship as they become available. Double Indemnity was a (Pre-Order) so it will be charged in the next day or 2.

You won't get charged for any pre-orders until those ship. Anything they send out now will also be charged the lower $1.99 shipping + tax (where applicable).

I did it! I love columbiahouse and I love dvdtalk! Without you guys, I never would have gotten these great savings!
I signed up for the membership for the first time a couple days ago, and finally received my welcome email Tuesday night. I headed on over here to grab the buy 2 get 4 free code, and made up for most of the sets I missed during best buys BOGO a couple weeks back. I actually had trouble thinking of movies that I want, since I usually focus on tv on dvd.

Boogie Nights Platinum Series 02469302W $21.95
Memento 02726206W Free
8 1/2: The Criterion Collection 03638905W $29.95
West Side Story Special Edition 02811107W Free
Seven Platinum Series 02436707W Free
Unforgiven 10Th Anniversary Edition 02759405W Free

Subtotal 51.90
Shipping & Processing 12.94
Tax 4.69
---------------
Total: $69.53

With my initial order of ~$13, this cost me a grand total of about $80-$83. On average, $6.35 a movie! What's even better is taking advantage of the enrollment and getting anime (I got Fullmetal Alchemist, vols 1-7). Even if every movie would have cost me only $20, I still would have paid $260! Thanks for making this info available, it's a great program.

No more b2g4f, but I do get b3g3f by adding first 2 preorders for 19.95 each and then adding 4 titles for 22.95 or less each.

I shouldn't have waited to try to use this. I can't decide if it's even worth doing now. The BOGO code (801635) is still working, but you still have to pay shipping.

Hopefully there will be some FREE shipping with B1G1 offers coming this Fall. I remember getting one in my mailings last October.

Wow, looks like I got my order in just in time. I was about to postpone thinking that this code would be around a little longer. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer.

I was fiddlin' around and this code still works as a b4g6 free if you want to buy a bunch. I had to buy 4 to fulfill once because I used a crappy code and didn't realize it, so if you did that, this code still might be worth it, although shipping would murder your soul.

If the b4g6 is true, then CH just fixed the b4g1 logic a little bit. It's just making you actually pay for 4 before giving one free. So, instead of b2g4, it's b4g6. Just 2 more b1g1s.

I can confirm the b4g6f, but the total comes out to about $100 after shipping and a $10 per disc average.

Looks like it's dead now. b4g1 isn't showing on my accounts this morning. Just a new $4.95 sale.

Hah! With all the people listing B2G4F purchases you think my post killed the deal? You had to know that Columbia House would catch on eventually. They usually have in similar cases, of which there have been quite a few over the years. I merely answered a question, from someone confused about the offer, fully, completely and accurately.

Does CH know about this forum? Yes, they do. Do they keep up with reading our posts? Perhaps, but this is unknown. If they did I would expect to see other changes and more rapid killing of offer codes that we post here. Since that doesn't happen (807748 worked for days, after all), I figure that they believe we are too small an issue to bother with.

Since the code was clearly a mistake I think there are ethical implications in abusing it anyway. It is one thing to play the game by CH rules (although sharing codes is not really what they intended, they could easily block such use and choose not to), it is quite another to take advantage of an obvious programming mistake. IMHO, of course.

So since the b2g4 was a glitch, I'm guessing we won't be getting another deal like this? What about b2g3, will that come around? Or will b1g1 with free shipping be the best deal we'll be seeing.
