And i'm kinda kicking myself cause I also just got an email from mypoints with the same offer, 2 for 9.95 + free shipping, only Heroes was listed as an enrollment title. I know that people have more than one account open but I just wonder how long I can wait before I try to open a second one. Shoulda waited.

In the past I used my work address to get more accounts.

Then if you can get HDL to work for you, I'd go with that for your second account (unless you plan on fulfilling with a $79.95 or higher title...).

N0treDom 12-22-07 08:00 AM

Hey all. I was wondering what the rule was for ordering the same enrollment twice on the same application. Now that Heroes S1 is available, I was considering getting two of them. Is this in violation of their rules and would this flag my enrollment as one to get 'lost'? Thanks.

New Rambler 12-22-07 11:36 AM

I don't think it will fly. They will send Charlie Weis to come sit on you.

lizard 12-22-07 11:54 AM

^^ I think it might work but I have never tried to order two of the same set as enrollments.

N0treDom 12-22-07 04:42 PM

Thanks New Rambler, the fear of potentially being sat on by Charlie Weis is enough of a reason not to try it. Plus, there's a few other sets that wouldn't kill me to try out.

Cheato 12-27-07 09:30 PM

I've been trying for about a week to open a 2nd account using the HDL link, and everything works fine until I'm submitting my sign-up information (name, address, etc., checkbox for the "I agree to the rules,") and then after clicking the Submit button and seeing a "Waiting for go.columbiahouse.com..." message for a while, I get the following error:

Gateway Timeout
The proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server.
Reference #(long string of what looked like hexadecimal numbers and periods)

ONE time (out of like 30 attempts), I got a different error message, which appeared in the same style (colors, font, etc.) as the site, and it said something about some maintenance going on and they'd be back online soon, so try again later.

I gave up and submitted the HDL code through the new(er) site, but in the past when I tried that, it just resulted in a lost application.

I've tried in IE, as well as Firefox, and encountered the same problem in both. Has anybody had any success recently, or has anyone hit the same error?

pepsiguy 01-02-08 11:39 AM

Ok, I haven't been able to do much since i've been working so much for awhile, but I just got an email that says my order for Planet Earth has been cancelled and not only that but the Freaks And Geeks set that has been shipped to me on Dec 4th still hasn't arrived.

Planet Earth was one of my enrollments. Grr, this makes me a little irked, haven't even completely started out and already i'm having problems with them.

DVDMagic 01-02-08 02:28 PM

^^ that sucks. I opened a new account recently and had 'Planet Earth' as one of my selections along with 'Heroes' which I did receive. The invoice that came with indicated that 'Palnet Earth' was out of stock but would ship on Dec 27th.

Of course no word on that yet because CH sucks at keeping me updated when it sends out orders.

As for your 'Freaks & Geeks' not showing up. If it hasn't by the weekend then they should send you another copy since the 30 day period will be up.

I really hope you fare better with your Planet Earth enrollment.

I'm currently on hold and have been for about an hour and a half to see if I can them to resolve these issues but I guess it's going to have to wait until Monday...

Help....i have tried the hdl codes over over and over...no luck
what code can i use online to join the tv club
and what code can i use to join the tv club via the telephone..

please SOMEONE HELP ME

Cheato 01-11-08 07:36 PM

You'll have to explain what "no luck" means, and you'll have to clarify HOW you're using the HDL code--on the main sign-up page, or on the one you get to using the special link in the "TV Club available for enrollment" thread?

Did you read the first post in this thread? If you had you would know that, at last report, 6J1 worked on the phone, although it isn't as good as HDL. Since that is pretty old information, it may not still work. But I haven't seen any newer reports of phone codes for the TV Edition of the DVD Club.

If you have been trying HDL on-line and the applications are not being accepted, well, that is pretty common. HDL is an obsolete code that Columbia House sometimes chooses to honor. Or not. Most who want to use it just keep trying periodically until an application slips through and happens to get accepted. So far as I am aware there are no secrets that will improve the chances, save that newcomers to CH have better chances of getting approved than those of us who had numerous accounts before.

I should know better but can we have 2 tv accounts in addition to one regular account? thanks for any info.

Yes. You can have 2 of every club per street address. CH considers the TV Club to be separate from the regular DVD Club.

wow thanks! its a snowed in day here on the east coast. making a couple of new accounts will keep be occupied for awhile.

GrayByrd 01-20-08 05:18 PM

Wanted to enroll in the TV club but there is no bill me option at checkout. Does anyone have a code?

BobO'Link 01-21-08 08:53 AM

^There *is* no code for "bill me" for the TV club. It is CC only if you join online. I don't know about a phone-in join, but you can't use the best code with a phone application.

The best code is HDL.

See first post in this thread for more information.

My order just shipped its freaks & geeks and samurai jack season 1

DVDMagic 02-14-08 09:58 AM

I am interested in getting a new TV club open but have a question:

There are a couple of titles in BYorks thread that are available, but using HDL or the other codes they aren't there. I'm assuming that these are possible to order over the phone?

It probably is possible to order any title available via on-line, mail or phone by a phone order. The problem is that the best code, HDL, doesn't work on the phone and the best code that does work on the phone is somewhat more expensive to use.

You aren't, by any chance, mixing up the mail order titles in BYork's lists with the on-line ones? If not, then it is possible that the on-line enrollment list has changed yet again.

DVDMagic 02-14-08 02:37 PM

I had to double check there for a minute, but no, I was checking the online list via HDL.

The list BYork has lists CSI: The Complete Second Season, but I don't see it on the HDL site and think it might be a mistake because S1 & S5 are available, but S1 isn't listed in the thread.

Unless of course I'm just not seeing it

That appears to be the case as this title does not show up on the enrollment site with or without using a code. I conjecture that it was once available and when dropped the first season was accidentally removed from the listing instead of the second.

lizard 02-19-08 01:26 PM

FWIW, I just had an HDL membership approved. Kind of surprising, given all the Columbia House accounts I have had over the years, albeit only a few in recent years.

After all these years HDL is still working...

Enrollment titles using HDL work out to $15.33 each, using the following assumptions:

• Fulfilling with $19.95 titles and a BOGOF plus free shipping code (= 4 DVDs for $39.90)

• The value of a DVD is $4.80, because that's what they can be purchased for in a well-optimized regular club membership.

Not that I plan to (ulfill with regular DVDs. I'm looking at sets and HD DVDs.)
