Has anyone ever been randomly charged for something? I have an "Awaiting Credit Approval" for an order of Third Watch but it wasn't even my director's selection nor did I place that order.
That disturbs and angers me to be completely honest. |
^That's very unusual. Unless it is a DS that you missed, it is hard to explain. A possibility is that a CSR got accounts mixed up and placed someone else's order on your account.
You should call them and get the order deleted; if it gets sent anyway, send it back unopened as "Refused — Return to Sender". |
Unless it's always been like this...(since I just got this account recently)?
Just got an email for my TV account to decline this month's selection, and noticed that when I clicked through, the banner said 40% off all TV/Movies - no other purchase necessary. Is this what the normal TV club deal has always been? Or, does it really even matter... |

When buying sets one usually gets the best deal by waiting for a BOGOF code (+ free shipping) to pick up a regular DVD as a freebie. Another good deal is free shipping on sets, although this is very rare nowadays. |
has anyone who used 'hdl' been accepted lately? tried 2 apps a week apart. nada. I've only had one regular dvd account. I was hoping I'd slide by

FYI, I cycled through TV accounts using the HDL code 15 times from Jan-2006 to Aug-2007. Then it was very difficult for me to get approved for it anymore. I finally did get approved for #16 on 11/21/2007. Since then, can't get approved again. No responses or anything. :(
Tried yet again last week with one of the newer codes (92L I think). This time I got a response in the mail today: Dear Icecube, Thank you for your recent application for membership in the Columbia House DVD Club. Unfortunately, we are unable to process your application because we are no longer accepting applications for this particular membership plan. We are enclosing a new membership application for your convenience. Please make sure that all boxes are filled in properly and that the information is correct before returning the application to us. You may also submit a new application online at columbiahouse.com or call toll free 1-888-CHC-DVDs (1-888-242-3837). Thank you for your interest in our club. We look forward to hearing from you. Michael T. Daniels Columbia House DVD Club Enclosed was a flyer for 5 DVD for 49 cents in the regular, not TV, club, with obligation to buy 5 more. Or take a 6th and 7th DVD and buy 4 more later (the usual, no-code application). :( Pretty dissapointed. Does this mean TV Club is on its way out, or just an isolated incident/they don't want me in it anymore? |
^My guess as to what is going on here is that the CSRs handling applications have several buttons on their screen that generate letters for various scenarios. They pick one and move on to the next application. The letter could mean that the code is no longer valid — although 92L seems to be a valid TV Edition code — or it could just be an error by the CSR. Most likely it doesn't mean that the TV Edition of the DVD club is "on the way out".
Why the CSRs make the decisions they do remains a mystery but your history of having had so many TV Edition accounts before might be a factor. |
Does anyone know what magazines would carry a mail in application it has been my experience that mail in's get approved 80/90 percent of time while online and phone apps its like 20/30 chance of an app being approved?
|
^Although I know that they exist, I've never seen a mail-in application for the TV Edition club. It has been reported that one can call or write Columbia House and ask for a mail-in application to be sent out.
Anyone else know where to get one? |
^The last time I saw one in a "magazine" was a few weeks ago when there was one on the back page of the Saturday Magazine (some locations it's Sunday) in the local paper. This one was the "USA Weekend" supliment for Feb. 22-24. It's a 2/2 for $19.95 using code C3Q.
The address to mail the coupon to is: Columbia House DVD Club PO Box 91609 Indianapolis, IN 46291-0609 I would think you could write that address asking for an application and get one sent via USPS. |
So all of this is legit? No hidden fees other than the 2 19.95 and up purchases? Just seems TOO good to be true!
I got Ghost Whisperer Season 1 and Freaks and Geeks Complete Series BTW |

I got Ghost Whisperer Season 1 and Freaks and Geeks Complete Series BTW Don't forget that those $19.95 and up purchases can be *any* title. Does not have to be "sets". And don't purchase anything without using a code of some sort. B1G1 is preferable for fulfillments. Go to the Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part IV thread making sure to read the 1st post and then jump to the end, work backwards until you locate the latest code list provided by jester (who does *great* work in keeping it updated). You might want to read through the thread a bit to get an idea of how people are using the codes to maximize their return and better optimize an account. On a well optimized account, those 2 sets you got for enrollment will have an imputed cost of ~$15 each. Have fun! |
What code is working to open an account with the buy 2 set for $10 plus 2 dvds purchase commitment?

Has anyone had any luck with HDL recently? I've tried to use it several times in the last couple of months without any success.
|
It worked for me in the beginning of June, I hadn't tried it for a long time.
|
I just used the code HDL and it successfully worked for me. I choose the following:
24: Season 6 - $4.95 X-Files: Season 1 - $4.95 free shipping with only 2 more titles to buy @ $19.95 or higher good deal! I had gotten 24: Season 1-4 during the Best Buy coupon fiasco, so I only need season 5 now. I had been meaning to start on The X-Files so this worked out great! Thanks for the heads up! |

Thanks for looking out but I don't like alot of television shows, their enrollment selections were not the greatest, and that is exactly why I bought these since it would be cheaper to finish buying the rest of these seasons.

It "worked" when you receive your selections, or at least get the email saying "Welcome to the TV club!" Did that happen? |
I was able to submit an application using HDL. I had to use Firefox though... after a couple of days of trying (unsuccessfully) with another browser, I decided to give Firefox a try... no problems.
Selected: CSI: Season 7 Prison Break: Season 1 (chose those mainly because I haven't seen the latter seasons of CSI and none of Prison Break, even though I've heard good things about it... wish they would add some more selections!) |
