Rejected. What to do?

I applied about a month back and sent CH an email asking what was going on, and I got this back:

Thank you for your e-mail message.

Account #50466042XXX

We appreciate your application for membership. We
are unable to issue a membership to you at this
time. Any payment you may have submitted is being
refunded.

We appreciate your interest and regret that we will
not have the opportunity of serving you.

Sincerely,
Hayley Gibson

Is it safe to reapply? Or will they connect my application attempts and reject me because of multiple tries? Why the heck did they reject me in the first place?

Yes, you can reapply. But don't send a blizzard of applications, just keep trying once in awhile. Some people have reported success in calling Columbia House using the rejected account number and asking, politely, what the status of the account is. The CSR will sometimes push through the application while one waits on the phone. You might want to try this.

Short answer: nobody knows. Perhaps they didn't like something about your previous memberships. Rest assured, this has happened to most of us who have had more than a few memberships.

My sense is that those of us who apply for memberships only a few times a year have better results than those who flip accounts every few weeks, but that is just a guess.

Most of us who have had "lost" or rejected applications find we get much better results if we use phone applications (888-242-3837; only a few codes work on the phone, such as LMT and 38Y). The success rate for on-line applications is much lower, for unknown reasons. (For the record: on-line applications are reviewed by actual people, not computers.)

So, I suggest trying again on the phone. Good luck.

There's no problem in you trying to apply again. These are just generic rejection letters they send out with no real rhyme or reason. Notice how there isn't any reason whatsoever given for you being rejected.

This is just how CH works.
