Is CH your main source for DVDs?

I used to buy a ton of DVDs. Every week I buy at least one. This went on for about 4 years. Then I came to the conclusion that I wasn't watching them enough. Many would be watched once and that was it, I'm sure many of you can relate. It was an incredibly expensive hobby/habit. So I simply stopped buying them or only buying ones I really wanted.

Then I discovered this forum and CH. I'd enrolled before but never knew about all these codes you could use to basically get a crap load of $20+ dollar DVDs for about $5.50 each. It's like Christmas all time with CH. So far I've had 4 accounts and have received about 45 DVDs, mostly 2-disc SEs, for about $240. Now that's a steal. I used to spend that much on about 12 DVDs. I wish I had known this sooner as I probably could have saved a few grand.

So CH is the go to place for mostly all of my DVD buying with the exception of stuff they don't carry. Oh and thanks for getting me addicted again.

I haven't done an exact count, but I would say that recently CH has been my main source for DVDs. I'll buy from DDD during the occasional sale. I'm currently at 200 titles when just last October I stood at 60 - 70 in my collection.

I used to go to Best Buy every Tuesday and pick up 3 or 4 movies. Then I found this forum and read how to get dvds for a great price. Since last March, Columbia House has been my main source for movies. I have picked up over 130 titles, not including TV seasons, for about $5.00 ea. This includes almost all the Warner 2 discs, Gladiator, Wizard of Oz, and Titanic 3 Discs, and the 6 Criterions they carry.

I've only bought about 20 series/movies from CH total. CH defiantely put a dent into building my Stargate SG-1 Collection, as well as most of the good Tom Hanks movies... but I think I use DDD's sale more often.

Yes, the large majority of my collection has come from Columbia House. It is safe to say that my collection would be quite a bit smaller without CH bargains.

Used to be, used to be. But the new shipping and IMO less attractive deals being offered have diminished the appeal. Plus the lowering of box set prices coupled with DDD sales have enticed me to buy more from them lately. DDD has had some wonderful sales on titles not offered by CH in the past few months. And of course shipping is always free. I'm not one to join and cancel repeatedly at CH -- I have done it some, but not compulsively. A lot of hassle in that. Get on the DDD mailing list, and I think you'll find a lot of deals that make CH seem less attractive, consering the labor involved in opening closing accounts, keeping track of them, and then dealing with the fairly large number of CH mistakes. Time is money. How much cheaper CH is -- on many items -- is an increasingly difficult question.

I've bought well over a hundred titles from CH since November. Thats' when I really got into the swing of things by opening several accounts and taking advantage of the many buy one get one free offers as well as free shipping. I try avoiding retail when I know something will be carried by CH.

Only have had two accounts, so not really. Once I get more caught up on my unwatched DVDs, that'll change. CH seems to be a real goldmine for someone like me: a lover of WB's catalog titles.

Yes for me too, though it has slowed quite a bit this year. I have bought less than half as many DVDs in the last 6 months as I did in the 6 months before that.

Well over 90% of my collection has come from CH. Most of the rest come from the bi-annual DDD 20% off sales. Speaking of which, it looks like the third Friday in June was the magic day in both 2004 and 2005. That's exactly one month from tomorrow.

Start getting those wish lists up to date.....

If CH carries the title I want, I buy from CH. If CH does not carry the title or studio, I regretfully have to pay double/triple the price and buy somewhere else.

CH used to be my primary source, but I scaled back a couple years ago when they started losing my applications left and right. Not keen on rewarding incompetence, no matter what the bargains. At the same time my buying shifted more toward TV-on-DVD as the flood of releases hit and my movie backlog filled. My yearly CH memberships went from 8 or 9 down to 2 and might pop back up to 3 or 4 this year if I can get applications to go through on the website.

I've been doing the CH deals for almost seven years now, and my peak was around 8-10 memberships in one year. Recently that number is way down given the slowdown in releases I'm interested in and the less frequent deals at CH. Over the last year I think I've done 3-4 enrollemnts, including one last week, and I probably won't do another one until fall just because I don't see many titles coming out this summer that get me excited.

My collection is about 350, the bulk of which was acquired from CH. Given the 40 or so accounts I've had that number would be higher, but I've sold probably 200+ titles on Half.com and eBay after I watched them. I've used CH to try out titles I've never seen--when I liked it I kept it, and when I didn't I sold it, generally for a small profit. Plus it lets me keep a title for a few months to check out the Special features over time before I let it go.

CH has been great for me!
