Best Buy sticker WTF?

I ordered An Evening with Kevin Smith a few weeks back and it has been listed as "awaiting stock" ever since.
Today, out of the blue, it shows up.
Much to my surprise, it has a little yellow sticker on it from Best Buy and the price of $23.99.
Strange enough, but I've got a question for anyone who's purchased this DVD.
The wrapper on it seems a bit loose like it's possibly been repacked and there's no security stickers to be found.
Has anyone bought this retail and was this how yours was packaged?
I'd like to think that because the case is cardboard they packaged it this way to avoid damage to the case, but I'm still curious...

i got a copy of it a few months ago and it didn't have a best buy sticker but did have a weird sticker (i forget what it said) and appeared to be repackaged. When i opened it the discs were in perfect shape so i didn't see a reason to complain.

I once received an Escape from NY SE from Columbia House and it had a Best Buy sticker. The discs looked repackaged and had fingerprints on them. These are probably discs that get returned to them, that CH does not look at very well.

This kind of tri-fold packaging doesn't usually come with security stickers, check out this thread for more on the subject of returns:

I once recived Harry Potter with an ebgames sticker on it but it looked okay so I never made a fuss about it.

I got An Evening with Kevin Smith from Columbiahouse recently, and the shrinkwrap isn't as tight as the other dvds. But I just think that is how it is, because on the front of mine it still has the "2 Discs! Almost 4 hours of Kevin" original sticker on it. I have seen a few other copies of Kevin Smith sealed and all the shrinkwrap on them is loose for some reason.

Yeah, copies of movies that are returned to Best Buy end up in CHs return basket for some reason. WTF?

No Conspiracy Theory required.

The DVDs go down the food chain from the distributors, aren't sold, get returned (with no one bothering the clean off the retail stickers), get sent to CH and on to us.

I'm sure that CH is the Big Lots of the industry, and takes what it gets.

Exactly, I would put money that this is the case. Stores (like BestBuy) are always shipping back unsold merchandise. The studio would rather sell it to someone else, of course, and doesn't care about stickers on the unit.

The King Kong Collection with the tin that I bought from Family Video had a Best Buy Exclusive sticker on it. I'm pretty sure I saw one of those, complete with the Best Buy sticker, at Circuit City a while back too.

My guess would be that someone probably returned one that they bought at Sam's Club and a warehouse person put it back in stock.
