Cancelling Account Online???

Why can't you cancel online anymore? I just did a few weeks ago and now I keep getting the stupid popup that says I have to call and talk to an agent. I was also able to cancel over the phone recently aftetr Customer Service hours, by just following prompts until it was cancelled, but can't do that anymore either. It's not that big of deal to call and talk to someone, but it's just easier with the click of the mouse or press of a button.

Hello,

You can bypass the popup by disabling Javascript in your browser. I did this about a week ago and was able to cancel the account online.

I just cancelled an account over the phone the other day, and the man offered me a free dvd under 14.95. I was surprised, and chose some random movie. I can't complain because I received it today and I paid nothing. I still got to cancel the account. It wasn't like a keep your account open and we'll give you a free movie deal. I'm so happy!

Just choose "membership obligation". This is what I've been doing for awhile now. Just put in simple remarks like this.

I've fulfilled my membership obligation, please cancel my account and let me know when it is canceled.

They send an email the next day. It says, we're sorry, yadda yadda yadda... please give this 2 days to go into effect.

Done deal.

There should be an option for it in your browser settings. Which specific browser are you using?

No need to turn off java. (you will need to turn it back on afterwards) Just do as the others have done. EZ as pie and it works.

This is how I've been doing it for my last few accounts. I just cancelled the other day using this method.

I had the same problem when I started the thread. There are several different ways to go about cancelling online and they're all in the above posts. To avoid receiving the popup just turn off Java.

Uh, just wanted to point out that it's Javascript that creates those popups, not Java, there is a difference.
