Thanks, Lizard. Good to know. I guess I will call it in.

island007 10-21-05 04:44 PM

Yes, I still cycle accounts.

I just use the 'we want you back offer online.
7 for $12.89 with a commitment of 2.
No PSN and CC is optional; though I've always use the CC option.
Approval is about a day or two.

kenbenobi 10-21-05 05:42 PM

I opened an account last week, and just submitted another application a few moments ago. I haven't tried having 2 accounts open at the same time in ages though... I used 1KJ on both...

DVDMagic 10-22-05 06:17 PM

I have just paid my account and have been a member for a year or so now. I still have fun cash remaining, which I plan to use shortly.

My question is.... If I close my aco**** after I have used the fun cash, how long will it be before I start receiving email/snail mail with the "We want you back" plea? so that I can take advantage of the new offer (7 for $12.89)

Jake77444 10-22-05 11:02 PM

you dont have to wait at all just enter the code 1kj when it asks you for a saving code.

DVDMagic 10-23-05 08:12 AM

Will I have to change the name (but not the address) that it's been shipped to? Or does that not matter?

DVDMagic 10-23-05 08:15 AM

I think they may have sussed something out. When I open the website to join, I can no longer find the box where it asks you for a savings code.

Unless I'm missing something?!?

Try enabling pop-ups.

I have found that I can rotate accounts by closing one, then waiting about a month before submitting another online application. I always have my other account fulfilled before I drop another app. I use the "Apply on Friday" method, the last time for a TV Club using HDL. I had the sets in a week.

If you were using a link from these forum threads, don't. Just type in the address: www. columbiahouse.com (leave out the space after www. ), then bookmark it.

You may open as many accounts as you want (same name, credit card, and everything) but can only have two open at the same time. So, close old ones before applying for a new one.

After a few accounts you will find that you can no longer open new ones on-line (the applications will just disappear). But you will still be able to open accounts on the phone. That, at least, has been the experience of most of us in the last couple of years.

DVDMagic 10-24-05 03:18 PM

Is that 2 at the same address or 2 under the same name?

The reason I ask is because I have an existing account with $32 in fun cash to use, and my brother also has an account oopen at my home address.

Should I close out my other account after using up the fun cash and then open a new account? Or give it a shot and see what happens?

^I can never remember how to point to a specific entry in your FAQ. I will try to use your post as a guide for the future.

Don't have too many of the 'classics' (save for spaceballs) so I decided to pick these up for enrollments. The 1st time I decided to pick up all 2-discers.

1. Million Dollar Baby
2. Citizen Kane
3. The Adventures of Robin Hood
4. Casablanca Special Edition
5. Singin' In The Rain
6. Spaceballs Collector's edition

I plan on fulfilling with either one of the Hitchcock movie collections or the King Kong tin & Wizard of Oz 3d, if the current sale is still going.

Uncle Sammy 10-26-05 07:54 AM

I applied through the website 7 days ago but haven't heard anything yet, should I assume my application's lost or should I just wait a little bit longer?

I usually give it a maximum of 2 weeks. I used to have only one fulfilled acct. open for the longest time and then I started applying online at least 10 times - all lost - before I phoned in 2 weeks ago and got the discs in the mail 5 days later.
Used LMTD and got:

Shawshank Redemption SE
Goodfellas SE
Casino AE
The Fifth Element UE
Leon DE
Heat SE
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly SE

Fulfilled it with WOOz 3D giftset (23.97), Polar Express 2D SE (19.95), Field of Dreams 2D SE (8.95) and got free shipping and $10 off first online order (called in and said I had received the email regarding that limited time offer)!

I went throught the same thing, applying via the web with "09F' and a previous preferred status number. I tried 3 times before getting frustrated and calling. CSR asked me if I entered a credit card number on-line to which I replied that the on-line form never asked for one. I was then informed that without a credit card number, on-line applications are not processed.

I think there's more to it than that. Even WITH a credit card, on-line applications are usually "lost" when one has had more than a couple of accounts. On-line applications are handled by real people (last we heard a few years ago) and for some reason they just get deleted. My guess is that the CSR takes a quick look at one's account history and makes a snap judgment to not process the application. Sure would like to know what the internal Columbia House policy really is. But at least phone applications still work ... for now.

Order 7 using that code and you get them for $12.xx with only two more to buy. The 8th disc at $9.95 doesn't affect fulfillment so it doesn't make sense to order it.

I just ordered:

On the Waterfront 1 $0.49
Taxi Driver Collector's Edition 1 $0.49
Raging Bull Special Edition 1 $0.49
Goodfellas Special Edition 1 $0.49
Citizen Kane 1 $0.49
JFK Two-Disc 1 $0.49
Casino Anniversary Edition 1 $9.95

I hadnt done this in so long, joined twice for the TV sets and one time in the regular club

TV 1: Dream On
Thundercats S1

TV 2: Miami Vice S1
Night Rider S1

Regular club: The Kid (2 disc Chaplin)
City Lights (2 disc Chaplin)
The Circus (2 disc Chaplin)
Boyz n the Hood (2 disc SE)
Spaceballs (2 disc SE)
Be Cool (WS)
and last but not least, as I agonized over what I could possibly get... on a whim, I found out the Complete History of the Pittsburgh Steelers was available for enrollment and snapped it up

There are probably enough available titles I want for another go round in the near future in the TV club, and with all the Chaplin discs, Im sure I could go for another go round in the regular club... it has been awhile

new_member 11-09-05 08:02 AM

lewisb72, did you receive the Thundercats yet? I got my enrollment package and received a raincheck for Thundercats. Called customer service and they said it wasn't available for enrollment. So I forwarded the application online and I'm waiting on a reply.

Mr. Cinema 11-09-05 10:30 AM

okay, I just closed my 1 acct again. Looking to rejoin. When I enter in the 1kj code, the site completely ignores it.

EDIT: It didn't work on the main entrance page, but after I to the page to start browsing, I entered the code again and it worked. Hope this one goes through.
