Check Email for 10% Off Private Sale

I attempted to use the method found in the other thread to find out the 6-digit online code, but I was unsuccessful. Good luck on getting this offer.

umm, I didn't get an email about it but 801053 worked as 10% off on my account that has already been fulfilled. I don't have my login with me for the account that has not been fullfilled yet to try that one.

It seemed to be good on my unfulfilled account. Also, I didn't actually place the order yet, but the summary page listed a $19.95 DVD as counting towards my commitment even after being discounted by 10%.

yeah, that was what I was seeing. I just found my way into my unfulfilled account by clicking links in all the emails I have from them and it seems to work there also.

Thanks for the heads up... I used that code on two of my unfulfilled accounts. $19.95 pre-orders show up as $17.95 and count toward commitment, ala the 10% off sales in the past. Used it for Bringing Up Baby SE and The Philadelphia Story SE.

don't forget about the Free Shipping for buying 3 titles. It may be only a couple bucks to get a third dvd at the same time (deal of the day would be the cheapest option that I have seen).

BTW: pilot was the one to originally post this in the Buy 1 Get 1 free (dead deal) thread.

Groovy... I split it across two accounts, so no free shipping for moi, but that's a great point.

Can you combine this 10% discount with the $5 coupon for the first online purchase? If so, how do I go about doing that?

If we can combine, then you can get two $19.95 titles for $17.95 + $17.95 - $5.00 = $ 30.90. I also want to make sure that if I do the above, the two purchases would still count as commitments. Any thoughts??

I tried adding things to my cart to see if this would work. This is what it gave me. kinda weird way it is doing the discount. It comes out correct though. It shows both titles counting as commitments as well. I did not actually go through with the checkout to verify though. (as I suggested above, I would prefer a third title for a couple $$ extra to get free shipping)

Item Total $39.90
Discount $2.00
$5 Discount for first time web order $7.00
Subtotal $30.90

So if I type in the code to get 10% off, will that remove my current offer for free shipping?

It seems to work just fine with the Buy 3 and get Free Shipping deal. Is that what you have or do you have something different?

I imagine that it would break down like this-

2 for $19.95 each=$39.90
1 at 50% off=$9.98
subtract 10%=-$4.98
subtract webdvd coupon=-$5.00
total=$39.90 + tax

Thanks..I read the message that I replied to wrong, shouldn't post till I'm fully awake and all caffine has set in....lol

Edited To Add: Also, I'm trying to order 3 19.95 DVD's and in my cart only 1 of them is showing as counting towards being a fufillment. Is there something special I need to do to get one of the other $19.95 titles to show up as a fufillment? Thanks.

here goes my attempt at responding when not fully awake yet.

You have to force the checkout to count both commitments. towards the bottom right of the screen there should be something that says. something close to this.
You have 2 DVDs to buy at regular price before 2006-01-27 .
Want to buy more DVDs from this order at regular price? Choose how many.
click on the choose how many and change the pulldown box to 1, then click the recalculate button. It should show 2 as being commitments now.

A bit more on this: At the lower right of your cart should be a link called "committment status", or something like that (I can't check since I don't have an unfulfilled account). If you click on that it will open a dialog box that will allow you to change the committment status of your order—duganrm describes it better than I can. This only works if you have two or more committments left. And it fails to function correctly with certain combinations of pre-orders and regular DVDs.

If you can't get it to work correctly your options are to try different DVDs or call Columbia House and ask to speak with a "web specialist" because you are "having trouble placing an order on-line". The web specialist can bring up your account as you see it on-line, verify the problem, and place the order for you. Don't forget to mention that you are using the "$5 off first time web orders" website so they can give you the discount.

Ok I did what was suggested above and ordered Friday Night Lights ($21.95), Vanity Fair ($21.95), and Walking Tall ($19.95). With the 50% off, after purchasing 1 at regular price; it made Walking Tall $9.98.

I just have to think in the bigger picture, because I got 2 TV DVD sets for $9.95; so for the 2 TV DVD Sets and 3 Regular DVD's come out to be $10.69 a piece. In total $53.45 for 2 TV DVD Sets and 3 DVD Movies, seems like a pretty good deal to me. Just hated looking at the order screen for the 3 DVD's I just ordered, and reading the Average DVD Price for the order was $14.50.

Yeah, I had the buy 3, get free shipping deal. And it worked just fine with the 10% off.

I bought expensive stuff (Warner's Gangster collection, Gone with the Wind, Shawshank Redemption), but with $5 off first order, 10% off total and free shipping, I got them all cheaper than I could have picked them up anywhere else (even online). So I'm happy.

Yes, it is quite important to think of a Columbia House membership as a package, since you are required to buy fulfillments to get the cheap enrollments.

To value the box sets in your membership I find that it is best to think about valuing the regular DVDs at what they would cost in a typical membership. For the current 6/2 codes, such as BD7D, that works out to $6.535 per DVD (or a bit less during free shipping).

So, you got three regular DVDs, worth about $19.61. That makes the cost of the two box sets $53.45 - $19.61 = $33.84, or $16.92 per set.

That is a pretty good bargain by any standard!

I guess I was a little unclear there.
2 at $19.98 and 1 at $9.94.
(this is basically to take advantage of the free shipping for buying 3).
Otherwise, I would have had to cough up ~$4-5 for shipping and instead opted to buy another DVD for just $4-5 more.

Just fulfilled an account with

Blade/Blade 2 pack - $20.21
Space Ghost Coast to Coast Volume One - $22.46
Hellraiser - $9.98

For $42.32 total, using 10% off, free shipping and $5 off first Web order.

The other problem was that I couldn't get the stupid website to upgrade regular DVDs to commitment prices, even following the directions here. I didn't want to call in, so I just searched until I found two cheap sets I wanted that the website did recognize. Very happy with this deal, as I only paid $13 or so for my 6 enrollment DVDs. The Blade set was perfect, because I was trying to get that anyway, and this worked out cheaper. And Hellraiser was only $2-3 more than shipping would have been.
