Average Cost Per DVD-Wow!

Just completed my first enrollment w/ a PSN
I used 72SD.

The breakdown:

6 dvd's ( $16.03 ) with CA tax.

I called on thursday the Thurs DEC 16th. I wanted to take advantage of the Phone Deals.
I completed my fullfillment w/the 3 for $25.00. I order 6 for $50.00.
I then asked if there was any specials. He said. " yes, you can get one free ". So I ordered a $19.99 DVD.

7 DVD's ( $53.60 ) with CA tax.

I stll had not received my initial enrollment pakcage ( sure some Risk), but I EMAILED back to CH to get the $5.00 credit. I was approved about 36 hours later

So, -($5.00)

$18.66
$53.60
-(5.00)
-------
$67.26/13 DVD's = $5.17 per DVD

Thanks to all the help here

I have since submitted several more applications

1 with the PSN
2 with credit card codes. So, I paid w a credit card.

Result:

PSN app approved
Just one of the credit card apps approved
I submitted all 3 at the same time.

I understand how this can become addicting !!!

Watch your account info on the website. The phone CSRs can and do mess up quite often.

I'd be careful about submitting 3 apps at the same time. You can only have a max of 2 apps at the same time according to some people. You might be redflagged.

wow..... dont get too excited and greedy now. you're probably new hear so ... word of advice. never open more than 2 accounts at the same time. like someone said you might be red flagged by CH. most account you can have at any given time is 2 opened accounts.

myself, i never open more than 1 account on the same day. usually i open 1 wait a couple of days and then open another. with CH you never know what might set them off. i rather be safe than be blacklisted by them.

Welcome to the Dark side! (uhm....better make that "cheap side")

You've found the pearl of frugalness, now enjoy the ride and keep your sense of humor when dealing with CH. The savings are amazing but, at times, so is their ineptness.

Your first opportunity for further learning will be when your 6-for-50 show up and your account doesn't reflect fulfillment. Just call 1-800-262-2001 key sequence 1 - 5 - 2 - (acct. # - don't wait for the stupid gas offer to finish) - 0 and then tell (don't ask) the CSR that your 6-for-50 should have completed your account commitment and you would like them to fix it. I just got off the phone 5 minutes ago doing that...

Whoa, whoa there......

You're getting into graduate level stuff here.

Besides, there would STILL be the need for another phone call to get credit for the 6-for-50.

OTOH: I like the idea of "reaching" to sweeten the deal just a bit more. Would that break the elusive $5 barrier?

I have 2 accounts and I fulfilled by phone with both of them (2X 3 for $25). I asked the rep if I could have the $5 web discount and they both told me it was only available via the web and there was nothing they could do. I even told them I was having problems with the web site (which is true) and they agreed that the web site had been acting up, but there was still nothing they could do.

Should I call back and talk to someone else and see if I can get an adjustment?

I'd call back and complain till they took care of it and gave me the $5 off, not your fault their site isn't working. Since they were aware of the site not working they should have given you the $5 off.

spartanstew, In the future, if you are having problems with the $5 off web site call Columbia House and tell them that and ask to speak to a "web specialist". The web specialist can pull up your account the way you see in on the web, verify the problem, and place your order for you along with the $5 discount. The regular CSRs can't see your web account and aren't supposed to give the $5 discount (though some will).

I just had a similiar situation. I placed my 3 for 25 over the phone. When I looked at my account ist said web order. When I tried to log on to webdvd for that account it would not let me. So I emailed CH and asked for the $5.00 credit. I was credited back immediately. I tried on several occaisons to get that free dvd w/ 6 for 50 purchase. i was denied this time. I had success my 1st attempt on my previuos account. on my 5th call I said I would like to order the 3/25, and if i do is it possible to get the free dvd ? She said, let me check..the she said sure. I was hopng to do this again for my next 3/25 on the same account. I was told only 1 free dvd per account. I did not pursue this one, although it would not have hurt. I was hoping for the 3/25 one free and then 3/25 one more 3 free. I called back again, the last CSR ' almost ' let me, but eventually denied me. Nonetheless, still less than $5.25 per DVD...
