My last 6 orders at freedvds.com were made on June 28th and I received 6 emails on July 1st that they all shipped.

I think my average waiting time to receive shipping confirmation emails has been one week. The only item I've ordered that took longer was Back To The Future which remained in "pending" status for about two weeks.

Is there a thread somewhere on the best way to use the freedvd sites? Like do you guys join Columbia House through them or what, how is the best way to get points?

Thanks !

thanks for the info AJW. My order still says pending, I placed it on 7/8. Hopefully it will ship soon.

Sav, here is a link to the thread: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=292312
It may take you a while to read through the whole thread, but its worth it. also, don't join the CH dvd club through these sites. You will get a better deal if you just join directly and use a code. its not worth the points. but the CH TV Greats club is a very good deal to do through these free dvd sites. I think you will find pretty much all the info you could ever want in the thread linked above. Hope that helps!!

I have tried these FreeDVDs web for a month. One of the difficulties is to select DVDs to match the points I have.

I think it would be nice if we have a list of DVD points along with a list of interesting DVDs in that point range.

Here's my example:

FreeDVDs.com point:

1750 - Brazil (CC)
1450 - Spartacus (CC)
1300 - Traffic (CC)
1200 - Criterion Collection listed as $39.99 (except Traffic)
900 - Criterion Collection listed as $29.99
600 - Kolya
The Conversation
Nashville
500 - Criterion Collection listed as $14.99 (Nigh and Fog)
300 - The Tenant
Hilary and Jackie

Interesting idea. Some posters have listed the point values for the titles they redeemed for. The problem is the points needed for certain titles haven't stayed the same since many of us placed orders. Some have gone up and some have even gone down.

I haven't listed what the selections I got "cost" me in points because I didn't want to confuse anyone.

ok, I have 4615 points at freedvds.com. What should I get? Here is what I am thinking of getting, but I haven't decided for sure:

Brazil CC -- 1750 points
Bad Boys Superbit -- 900
Life of Brian CC -- 1200
Outlaw Star collection -- 2750
Three Musketeers -- 450
Rage against the Machine: Mexico City -- 500
All 6 berserk dvds -- 6100

I am still trying to decide what to get... any suggestions?

I can't belive you've saved up all those points without ordering anything yet. I think the best strategy is to spend your points as soon as you get enough to order any one thing that you want. You never know how long these sites are going to last, or if they will suddenly increase point cost of thier inventory. It already happened once at FreeDVDs.com. Just something to think about.

that is a good point... well I ordered Brazil CC last night, but I am still trying to decide whether I should get the Outlaw Star Collection, buy a couple smaller dvds like bad boys superbit and life of brian cc, or if I should get more points to do something like the whole berserk set.

Did a lot of their (freedvds.com) go up or just a select few? Were they drastic increases?

I have been hanging onto points also so perhaps I should compile a list soon.

Most DVDs went up an average of 30%. The Godfather Collection, for example was 2350 and is now 3150.

Spartacus CC was 1100 and is now 1400

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas CC was 900 and is now 1200 etc.

Although, some did go down, I wouldn't count on that.

Okay... I was holding off until I was done with all the sites to list mine, but who knows if that'll ever happen... So, this is a combination of what I have received from all the various sites.

Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas (Criterion)
Spawn 2
Time Bandits (Criterion)
The Last Temptation of Christ (Criterion)
Cheech & Chong: Still Smokin'
Straw Dogs (Criterion)
The Bible
A Midsummer Nights Dream (Michelle Pfeiffer version)
Trading Spaces (for my wife)
Todd McFarlane's Spawn (animated)
Dumbo (60th anniversary edition)
The Wild One
Punch Drunk Love
Gangs of New York
Brazil (Criterion)
The Complete Monterey Pop Festival
Friends: Season 3
Complete Superman Collection (Christopher Reeve)
24: Season 1
Family Guy: Volume 1
Grateful Dead: View from the Vault 4
About Last Night
My So Called Life: Complete Series (for the wife)
Harvard Man (also for the wife)
Chicago
Alias: Season One (For my Dad... getting mine later)
Wrong Men & Notorious Women set
Jesus Of Nazareth
Interview With The Vampire
LOTR:FOTR Extended (finally received 10-31-2003)
Simpsons: season 1 (finally received 10-31-2003)
Matrix Reloaded
The Osbournes: The First Season (Uncensored)

edit: oops almost forgot... also ordered but still waiting on simpsons: season 1 & LOTR:FOTR Extended (edit: marked as shipped 8-2-2003) edit 10-31-2003: FINALLY received

edit again: I didn't mention the SonicBlue Home Theatre before... whoops

Update: XBox & Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance received and added a couple DVDs to the list above.

Update: Received the last thing that I had "Back Ordered" at freevideogames a few days ago... a PS2 game called "seek and destroy"... looks like a crappy game... I only ordered it because the point value was low and the description listed was that of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. Oh well... I'll figure out something to do with it.

Also, for those who are new, I received all of this with only about $30 total cost (after receiving $25 gift cards for two offers).

edit again again: I can hardly freaking believe it. With today's arrival of Osbournes Season One, I finally received everything that was outstanding from YFD. I am now totally done with that company (I think... for now anyway... lol) 12/27/2003

I have gotten the Wrong Men and Notorious Women box set from freedvd4me. I signed up for the site 2 days ago. Is it easier to get more dvd's quicker from freedvds.com? What are some of your strategies? I figure you guys cancel the offers after you sign up as well correct? How are you getting so many free ones though since the offers only let you do them once? Is it different on freedvds.com?

I'm only using FreeDVDs right now, but here's what I've gotten since I started about a month or so ago.

1. The Godfather Collection Box Set
2. Toy Story (just got this today- it's been retired to the vault now, so it's hard to find a cheap price)
3. Toy Story 2 (just got this yesterday - also retired)
4. Straw Dogs (CC)
5. The Exorcist 25th Anniversary Edition (got ship confirmation - is probably in my mailbox as we speak)

for a grand total of $21 invested(less the $3.99 credit for the CH TV Greats return merch, which i am awaiting the return label - this would bring the total to $17.01), and I have 130 points left.

Wahoo! FREEDVDS!

I just wanted to update my list - it's fun to see everything added up in writing!

All of my stuff is from FreeDVDs.com, FreeDVD4me.com, or FreeVideoGames.com. My grand total spent is about $55. I used to do most of the offers, but now that Matchmaker.com and the Book Clubs are instant free points, I've added A LOT in the past couple of weeks for almost nothing. Well, here goes:

Godfather Collection
From the Earth to the Moon
For All Mankind (Criterion)
24: Season One
Mr Bean - Complete Bean
Jack Ryan Trilogy
Pretty Woman (10th Anniv)
Sports Night Box Set
Beavis and Butthead Do America
The Score
North by Northwest
Madden '04 (PS2)
PS2 Network Adapter

On order:
NHL '04 (PS2)
Indiana Jones Trilogy
6 $25 Walmart GC's
(from MisterPoints.com)

Currently have 4100 points at FreeDVDs/FreeVideoGames.com.
Will order when avail:
24: Season 2
Sopranos: Season 4

Grand Total for everything if purchased at Amazon.com: $740.29 (+$150 at Walmart)

Okay, I'll join the happy fray.

In the month or so since I joined FreeDVDs.com, my haul has included:

Rocky And Bullwinkle -- Complete Season 1
Casablanca: SE
Brazil: CC
Do The Right Thing: CC
Lost In La Mancha
The Simpsons -- Complete Third Season

Plus, I snagged Chicago from FreeDVD4Me.com during their recent "two offers and a cloud of dust" promotion.

Total outlay? Twenty dollars, if that.

Alias
Twilight Zone Collection 1
QAF 2
Will & Grace
Shatter Dead
Identity
All Night Long 2
Slashers

The Recruit
Simpsons 3
Agent Cody Banks
Plus 2 backordered dvds that I am trying to cancel.

All for ~ $50

Thanks to all who have posted in the monster thread for turning a skeptic into a believer.

I had posted this question in the other freedvd thread, but maybe its more appropriate in here. I just got my xbox from freevideogames.com, and now i need to get a few games. What games would anyone recommend in the following categories:

Best Military Action game
Best Baseball game
Best Basketball game
Best Car Racing game

Thanks!

I've been on the edge of doing one of these. Now I think I'm going to jump off the edge. One question.

Can you sign-up for FreeDVDs.com and Free VideoGames.com at the same time or is it only one or the other?
