I picked up The X-Files: S1 for $8.99 today. I believe this is the last week that the $8.99 "old" TV shows will be on sale.

I saw a new cardboard display in-store. One side is blurays (mostly $7.99) and the other side is DVDs (mostly $4.99). I didn't see anything too exciting but it might be worth a quick look if you're already in the store.

Also, Best Buy has reduced its stock once again and switched to a planogram layout (similar to Target - all titles have a specific spot, are facing outward, and have a shelf tag). With such a small selection, I know my spending is going to plummet even more than it already has.

A few months back my store moved to a new/different layout. The same volume, which is the only saving grace - DVDs. CDs on the other hand were gutted.

Probably only a matter of time. The planogram changes are supposed to be nationwide. Anything not on the planogram is being shipped back.

Yup, the last change seemed to be more of a compression of shelving then a reduction in stock. However, that was made possible by the reductions made earlier in the year. This time last year, I remember thinking about how well Best Buy was stocked (after a decline in stock during the summer). Now, the selection is depressingly bad.

Next time I'm in Best Buy, I have to remember to count how many spots are on a shelf and how many shelves the store has. With the planogram layout, that would give a good estimate of how many titles they're now carrying outside of the bins and promotional displays. I think the number would be pretty surprising.
