Does anyone know where the following was originally sold (or given away)? Do other HBO seasons ever get this treatment?

I purchased the following from the goHastings site and it is indeed the complete 12 episode second season. It comes on two flipper discs tucked into a shorter than DVD case paper sleeve that opens like a greeting card. It looks legit, but definitely far cheaper than typical HBO packaging. There's an insert giving instructions on how to get a digital copy of the season at no extra charge (expires 8/28/14). There appears to be at least one copy remaining for sale.

It's the "DVD" part of the season's blu-ray/DVD combo pack. Recent HBO seasons have had this type of packaging for the DVD portion of the set.

This one is the same way as you described. I bought it and it was awesome for the price. Watched it in a day.

Wow, thanks for pointing these out! But for some reason, it only charged me $.05 for shipping, which makes me worried.

Marginal: My copy of BES2 arrived in perfect condition, though it travelled with two Blu-rays that I purchased at the same time, at the greater shipping charge.

The google search " foldout cardboard sleeve site:gohastings.com " returns both my find and bigjim25's. I guess I'll try it periodically, in hopes of finding other $2 SD seasons.

It's legit but again as the OP pointed out, they come in a foldout cardboard sleeves (these are the ones from the bluray/DVD combo packs).

Just received a dvd of Boardwalk empire 2. Good deal $2.
It came in a cardboard folder very nice - the 2 dvds have no artwork - kinda plane on both sides.
( on the paperwork it says used - but they look perfect.)
