be aware tho. If the ad states "doorbuster" or "limited quantities" or any other verbiage like those, they may not price match it for you.

If you're just looking for DVDs & Blu-rays, I remember in the past couple years I've seen plenty left at noontime. This year could be different, however. As the store ads clearly state, everything has a limited quantity. :) :)

Depends MooMooMooMoo. This year Wal-Mart will start BF at 10pm, Thursday. If you arrive around nine, the line to get inside isn't too bad. Look about and find the areas of your target. The DVDs are held inside cardboard racks and sealed plastic; won't be open until ten. Get done quick, leave quick. It will be busy, but for the most part NOT as bad as later. Later will be a massive, massive mess.
This year will be my fourth outing. I'm still waiting on info for Big Lots. My game plan is going around 9pm to Wal-Mart, leave about 11 or so, go to bed. Wake up about four and go to Big Lots. The line there is usually big. The store is next door to a Target, so I'll give them a look. After both stores I'm heading off to Best Buy then back to Wal-Mart. They're going to have more DVDs on sale at 8AM. My BF will be a hectic. I for one love it. It's exciting. Two years ago I was in Upland and the police showed up. Nothing happened at the Wal-Mart I was at. But a nearby store (another Wal-Mart) had a full riot. They closed down the store. They were afraid pissed off customers from there would come here. Every few minutes on the loud speaker they would say, 'please stay calm'. Good times. |

My friends that work in various levels of the company didn't swear me to secrecy:) Big Lots $1.88 dvd's and some of the other stuff they are doing this year, is sorta lackluster compared to what they did last year. |

Big Lots
BF begins on Friday at 6am. "Shoppers spending $50 or more on Thursday, November 24 – Saturday, November 26 will receive a $10 coupon to be used for their next purchase at a Big Lots store." |

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread
I was there for Circuit City's final BF around 4am. The big item people wanted was a laptop. As we got close to opening they gave out tickets for the computer. Even before the doors opened, it sold out. I was in front of one of those folks, pissed.

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread
Re BL, Based on the information I have I wouldn't assume there will be huge lines. Since the $1.88 dvd's have already been posted by someone else, here's what little else I THINK I know:
1. I have been told the $1.88 dvd's are pretty much the same titles we've seen the last 2 months 2. The $5 xmas & $6 2 disc sets are likely also going to be tied into BF at those prices. I.E., nothing like 2 years ago where we got the $2 box set bonanza. |
Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread
Looks like both the Big Lots $3 and $5 titles are $1.88. They have current $5 titles pictured in the ad. Although the ad does state "priced as marked." So I wonder if there is a batch with the $1.88 price tags. Also in the ad are the Paramount and WB double features for $4.88. X-mas dvds for 4.00.

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread
I'll hit up Big Lots later in the day.. not going to stand in a line before opening

Thanks. I think we're all discussing the Amazon BF deals in the Amazon thread.
I am a bit disappointed in what is being offered this year at Amazon. I hope that add stuff during the week like gift sets of Ben Hur , Ten Commandments Citizen Kane and Looney Tunes in blu. Only must buy for me so far is Season 4 of Mad Men. The non gift set of Ten Commandments will be offered. Hopefully at a fantastic price. Without prime it will be difficult to get to $25 to avoid shipping charges this year. |
Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread
Yeh can someone please link me to this mysterious Amazon thread?????? I'd love to keep more up to date on the deals.
Also, can anyone find the link for what CDs will be on sale for Black Friday week from amazon? |

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/blu-ray-bar...ad-27-a-5.html They linked to Amazon awhile after I did, but there seems to be more conversation. I'm wondering if that's the appropriate thread for those of us who have little interest in discussing Blu-Ray? |

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread
I'm also in the no Blu-Ray crowd, at least at this time. I have no plan to buy a BR player until i can afford a true audiophile model, which from reading I've done will probably be in the $1k - $2k range at minimum.
I agree, if someone would like to start an Amazon BF thread for DVD only, i would read it regularly. Absolutely nothing for me on the music link, but thanks for posting! |

Anyway, back to the thread, I'll be picking up Weeds, Season 6 and maybe Season 4 of Mad Men. Maybe another TV season or two. I watch a fair amount of TV on DVD and lately I've just been checking them out from my local library. What they don't have they can get from the system, at no cost to me (other than property taxes). I've watched Grey's Anatomy Seasons 1-6, Tombstone 1-3, Six Feet Under 1-5 (6?), and the Dexter series will be next. |

^Same here. There were a few titles in which I had a bit of interest (Gilmore Girls and the new Harry Potter) and went back to make a list only to find those days missing. I thought I overlooked them at first until I took a closer look. Maybe they're "playing nice" until later for the B/M vendors.

Entourage S1-7 are now $12.99 @ Amazon
These seem to show up every year around Black Friday, and sometimes for less, but if anyone wants to lock in the price: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...nid=2650303011 |
Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread
I would loooove to be able to get all seasons of Boy Meets World at Best Buy, but the weird thing is that none of my local stores have had the DVDs even on their release dates. So who's to say they'd actually have them all of a sudden on Black Friday?

Anyone know if How I Met Your Mother Season 6 will be on sale anywhere? Usually Target has it in their ad but I didn’t see it this year.

Re: Black Friday 2011 - The DVD thread
I am new here and I have been noticing this thread for the past few days.
Anywho, I checked out Amazon's Black Friday calendar and it amazes me. Jarhead for $.99?! 300 for $1.99?! I am definitely looking forward to this. I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Amazon.com has been doing a Countdown to Black Friday all week. In fact, the Countdown to Black Friday sales event ends today. |
