The Wire $72.49 Amazon DotD 8/24/11
All 60 episodes of this acclaimed HBO series are available on a 23-disc set, which also includes three prequels, audio commentaries, and other bonus features. The places and faces have changed, but the game remains the same.

Anyone that have this want to comment on the packaging? I read some reviews on Amazon that are making me hesitant.

If it's anything like the Sopranos packaging, it's big and clunky and the discs are in two flip-books, side by side which can be frustrating when looking for a disc from the middle seasons. Six Feet Under has a better one where you can just open it up and pull out the seasons, one by one.

I'm still going to hold out. It was $54.99 at Amazon back in December 2010 as a gold box special. Hoping to get it for a good bit less.

I was waiting for this to come to netflix, but this is a great price. I still think it will have cheaper version by the holidays like some of the other HBO series.

I don't see this dropping any lower than $15 per season. And it will never be on Netflix as HBO has their own streaming service/apps.

I just looked at my older orders at Amazon and saw $54.99...now actually looking at the invoice, I see there was a $20.00 credit applied to that order. However, I'm still hoping out for a lower priced copy - I have enough backordered movies/tv shows to keep me busy for a while, so I'm not in a hurry.

My copy finally arrived today, and wow, a good portion of the discs are scratched to shit....
I swear, I love buying basically everything online, but these last few months have not been kind to me. I've been getting a lot of damaged stuff, and I realize that this one is probably more due to the packaging than Amazon/shipping troubles, but wow.

Almost a month later and still no ship date in sight for me. Anyone else? It isn't even for sale from Amazon itself anymore, only third party sellers. Wonder what's the problem.
