Alright, you guys talked me into it. The Simitar set will go up for sale somewhere soon. Upgrade time!

I'm still on the fence... All I need is the last film in the batch. I would jump on it, and sell off the other films, but I want the foil cover to match the others...

I loved Godzilla when I was a kid. $2.71 per film. That's good enough for me.

Only the outerbox has changed right? The movies should still be in the original digipaks or were those downgraded aswell?

Let's hope we *both* win. I already own "Gojira", "Mothra vs. Godzilla", and "Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster". I picked this up *mainly* for "Godzilla Raids Again" and "Godzilla vs. Monster Zero" (aka "All Monsters Attack", "Invasion of Astro-Monster", and "Monster Zero") which also features Rodan, another favorite daikaijū. Together those 2 would cost almost as much as the set so the remaining 2 are pretty much a "gimmee".

I feel your pain.. I actually ordered it for 25 dollars on March 6, 2011... 1 day before this sale...and it still hasn't been sent out yet.. I used the free shipping and it's just been listed as shipping soon.

^If it's not gone into the shipping stage, cancel the order and place a new one.

^^Same for you, DarkPhantom13. If it's been shipped but you've not yet received it just refuse the package when it arrives. If you already have it contact amazon CS with a polite request for a price adjustment. While they typically no longer do this it never hurts to ask as they'll do it on occasion if you ask politely.

That's my understanding. Only the box was changed. It went from the sturdy top/bottom as shown on amazon to a "slipcase" with the same art. The DVD packages inside are identical to the individual releases. This is strictly based on a single "review" on amazon as I've not been able to find *any* information about the repackage of the set other than that one post.

As it's now showing to be in-stock, those of us who ordered a copy will know soon enough. :)

Yea but you at least got the nice sturdy box that it originally came with i assume. I got the new shitty one thats pretty much just a piece of cardboard wrapped around the movies. *sigh* Oh well no use in crying about it now.

I've been considering this since the original post but held off until today. It was one of my Quick Picks today for 18.04 so I caved at the .95 additional savings.

Thanks. Great price, and I've already enjoyed the Toho Pack Triple Feature, Toho Collection: Icons of Sci-Fi, and Dogora.

Got mine today, just a plain box that looks like the outside of the other box. All movies inside are identical to the original releases and independently shrinkwrapped. Total steal in my opinion.

Thanks again to OP. Great deal made even better by the free one
month trial of amazon prime :)

I apologize in advance if this is off topic.................but I wondering
if the price they have on the Rodan/War Of The Gargantuans dvd set
at $10.99 if that is one of the better prices that set has been seen at?

Thanks in advance for any insight/info.

If I enjoy this set-and I'm sure I will-what other similar sets should I consider? I already have the Icons of Sci-Fi: Toho Collection.

"Rodan/War Of The Gargantuans" - while not technically a set "Rodan" goes with the early Godzilla films.
and I'd say "Toho Pack Box Set - The Mysterians, Varan, and Matango" but it's apparently OOP with people asking insane prices considering each film is still in print as a single release - so go with the individual releases of those.
"Dogora" is in the general vein and also good, but not a set nor part of one.

The Mysterians was well-made but not Ishiro Honda's most exciting film, although I liked it more after a second viewing. I thought Varan the Unbelievable had a very good monster and an interesting setting. Dogora is interesting combination of crime caper movie and monster movie with a weird monster. Matango is a masterpiece.
