Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Deals

Kind of want the Ally McBeal seasons, but I'd much rather have the box set with the extras disc.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Deals

Argh, I really want those King of the Hill seasons but I'm getting prepared to drop $90 on Simpsons 2-9.

[EDIT] Wait there are 13 seasons of King of the Hill and only 6 seasons available on DVD? The last season that was released was in May 2006 and that was season 6. Hmm I want to have the complete set so I might just hold out and see even if they plan to release the new seasons soon.

I'm really hoping to continue my annual tradition of picking up the latest season of Psych for < $15, but no signs yet. Similarly, a cut in the $50 price tag of White Collar on Blu-ray would be ideal. That's one thing I really haven't liked about these fantastic USA shows -- except for the rare sale, they tend to stay priced higher than most other networks'.

That was my hope, too. I've bought Psych every Black Friday for the last 3 years, but no sign of price reductions this year.

I was also hoping to pick up True Blood S2 and Chuck S3 for

Probably a little of both, judging by what Amazon did last year. Also, remember that when stocks get low on some movies, they start showing that they won't ship for a week or more.

Don't count on it. I've been waiting for 2 years. Fox's reasoning was not enough sales on the earlier seasons. I've been watching it though netflix

Had to look around for the post.

Season 7 and up

Fox has chosen not to release the further seasons as the first six released seasons did not sell well enough to warrant future releases. Seasons 1-13 are available on demand on Netflix, and for seasons 7 and up, stock images are used for their icons in place of the nonexistent box art.

I ordered it a couple of hours ago and it's already shipped. Gotta love Amazon.

Hell, I ordered something last night around midnight and it arrived at the local UPS distribution center at 2 o'clock this afternoon -- and I opted for free shipping.

Dazed and Confused Criterion is listed as a lightning deal so it would probably be cheaper. I placed an order and cancelled it when I saw it on the calendar..

I am wondering the same. Do I wait or just buy it now?

Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Deals

Is there any reason not to buy the full set of SG-1 rather than individual seasons at ~$10 ea.? If you buy the whole set, it's about $94 @ Amazon. Of course, if you already have seasons 1-9, it makes sense to buy what you are missing. Just wondering if they are packed similarly or burned equally well.

Thanks.

Packaging scratches the discs.

7.99$ for S.1 of Burn Notice might worth the wait...

Back to The Future Blu ray is down to $34.95 from $47.95. I know it will be a lighting deal later in the week. How much cheaper could it drop to?
I ordered and will return unopened if it is cheaper on Monday the 28th.

Seriously. I can't imagine it'll be much cheaper than that. It's like Dazed and Confused Criterion. It's already $10. What's the best case scenario? That it drops to $8... and you risk missing out on the window of opportunity.

I know, crazy. I think it was quicker than that actually. More like 10 minutes.
I'm glad I only needed 2 of them.

Has Dazed and Confused Criterion been rumored at all for a blu-ray re-release? Does anyone own an HD version of the film (Universal) and see a significant enough difference in picture and audio quality to get that instead of the Criterion dvd?

Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Deals

Having seen Dazed and Confused numerous times theatrically (I was a projectionist when it was out) I always thought the laserdisc made it look too GOOD. The film prints were intentionally washed-out, but they cleaned it up for the laserdisc. I watched the HD-DVD recently and thought they came closer to getting it right there, but it's been such a long time now I'm not really sure anymore. I'd still like to get the Criterion edition for the extras, but can't see buying another standard-def disc of something I already have in HD.
