I was just in that area yesterday and couldn't remember where it was located. I bet I would have found some stuff I needed too. Crap!

My brother's a Bond fanatic, so I hope some of the Ultimate Editions find their way near me. Would be interested in the Dietrich and West sets as well.

Saw the WC Fields set in Troy NY yesterday but wasn't that interested.

Found a copy of Kentucky Fried Movie, not a snapper (I believe past versions were), no cut on the upc, only $3. Very happy . Almost bought a copy of Blade: Complete Series but decided against it when my wife told me how bad it was (and she loves the movies).

Probably confusing it with a similiar movie. Still, for a movie along the same vein as Airplane and Naked Gun, well worth the cost.

Yeah, I agree. It's an Anchor Bay DVD. I don't think they used snappers. At least I can't recall. I thought snappers were only used by Warner, MGM, and New Line.

Turns out Pearl did get both batches; no one was aware of it except the receiving manager until today when they were put out. Pretty much everything others have posted except the Mae West.

Looked to me like they got 2 trays ea of the $3 & $5's, though i wasn't there when they were put out.

The old Image DVDs were also snappers, I think that was it though.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I had the best haul in quite a while from the Rensselaer/East Greenbush NY store yesterday.

Mae West Glamour Collection
Marlene Dietrich Glamour Collection
Rent Live on Broadway (two copies...one for me, one for my daughter)
Big Extended Edition

$5 for Mae, Marlene and Rent, $3 for Big.

I have the Lombard set and if the titles in each collection aren't all five star, there are some really choice titles on each ("I'm No Angel" on West, "Morocco" and "Blonde Venus" on Dietrich)...and for $1 a movie...hell yeah!

I've been wanting to get "The Graduate Special Edition," but read on Amazon that all DVD editions except the more recent 40th anniversary edition use less than stellar source material. I think I'll wait.

That's the best damn deal I ever heard for that WC Fields set..good movies and a great price. If anyone is on the fence towards getting it, seriously, GET IT! U won't find it any cheaper than that unless someone gives it to you for free or as a gift.

Those Glamour Collections and the Shelley Winters Midnight Movie twofer are the titles I'm interested in....and (not surprisingly) are the only ones mentioned recently that I haven't seen here in the NJ stores.

Thanks, everyone, for the lists of new arrivals. It inspired me to go on a roadtrip of 6 Big Lots tonight. All finds were $5.

Picked up in Trenton, NJ:
W.C. Fields collection 2
Mae West Glamour collection (but I think I got the last one)
Bonnie & Clyde
Grand Hotel

Picked up in Bristol, PA:
Rent Live on Broadway

Picked up at Franklin Mills, Phila, PA:
Marlene Dietrich Glamour collection (could swear there was another Marlene and more Mae West left when I was done, also 2 more WC Fields)
....and....
The Book of Daniel The Complete TV Series (don't remember anyone mentioning this.....loved this show when it was on the air, kind of a cross between 7th Heaven and Desperate Housewives!....the DVD has 4 unaired episodes....regular size case, not a box...there were still two sets left in the $5 box when I was done)

Picked up at Bustleton, Phila, Pa:
Rock Hudson set
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Fairless Hills, PA, and Willingboro, NJ: well picked over

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I'd like to find that Shelley Winters double feature too...more for "What's The Matter With Helen," which if I remember correctly, actually got decent reviews when it came out.

Will take a second look at WC Fields...I should be using the same logic as when I bought the West and Dietrich sets...it's $1 a movie.

Have seen the Rock Hudson and Brando sets...not interested. Gary Cooper..maybe...because there is some really good and/or rare stuff on that one.

Can you replace "a few" with more specific locations? It would be helpful to those of us in the L.A. area who are interested in some of these titles. Thanks!

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Stopped at the Lancaster BL again yesterday evening, just in time to hear the stock guy ask the cashier to condense the DVD's, because he had 6 new trays in the back! I asked to see what they had, but he would bring out only 2, as he didn't want to remove them all from their shipping boxes. It was the lot with the Sherlock Holmes triple feature and the Shelly Winters double feature. The only other other title that stood out is Dead Like Me: Life After Death. (Pretty sure that was it.) Skimmed the rest of the stock and noticed two titles I'd missed. I'd assumed Laguna Beach was the only new (not previously-viewed) TV series to arrive, but found

Northern Exposure: S2
The Philanthropist: Complete Series

on the wire rack for $5 each. I thought somebody here had mentioned The Philanthropist, but just searched this thread and got no hits.

Tried going to the Niles, IL one today but they were closed due to the many power outages from a storm that took place a few days ago. The place was a ghost town.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Kent Wa got a ton of the $3, & 4 trays of the $5. They got pretty everything I've seen mentioned here except the Mae West, which apparently is really scarce in Washington (only been reported in Puyallup).

For those looking, they have several Shelly Winters 2 fers & several Dietrich Glamour.

Stopped by a BL today and couldn't believe how many $5 priced DVD's they had and the clerk told me the sale was only for $3/$4 titles? (buy 2 for $5)

About 3 weeks ago I bought the Eastwood Movie Changeling for $3 at BL , today they were all marked at $5 ?

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I just hit a couple of the L.A. valley stores for the 2/$5 deal (21910 Sherman Way, Canoga Park & 18340 Vanowen St., Reseda). I also ended up using my 20% off and found out that by going to another store right away I could use the 20% off again because it wasn't in the system yet. That's a really interesting glitch, wouldn't you say? The $5 titles were $4 and the $3 titles were $2.

$3 titles:
Strange Invaders/Invaders from Mars [Midnight Movies]
Alone in the Dark
The Old Man and the Sea [snapper]
Amityville III: The Demon
Amityville 3-D [no glasses included]
Flying Leathernecks [the John Wayne collection]
The Pink Panther and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection Vol. 6 - The Inspector
Dark City [director's cut]
Excalibur
Back to Bataan [the John Wayne collection]
Cabin in the Sky
Brutal
Capricia
L.A. Story
Hello Mary Lou - Prom Night II
Cold Souls [Paul Giamatti]
The Hills [complete first season]

$5 titles:
Dawn of the Dead/Land of the Dead [unrated director's cut/slipcase]
Sunshine Cleaning
What's the Matter with Helen?/Whoever Slew Auntie Roo [Midnight Movies]
