Re: DD - Awesome Autumn Sale - Save 20% on *SELECT TITLES*

I got an email on the night of the 13th from DD about the sale. I didn't come to post right away because I wanted to get an order in before everything goes on back order. I am still waiting for my order from 2 months ago with a B1G1 Blu ray sale. I picked up 4 things. I opened 2 windows one with DD the other with Amazon to see who had the better price on stuff I wanted. Amazon actually had a better price on 6 of 10 items even after the 20% discount.

They removed the "change daily" part.

Now reads:

Prices shown do not reflect the additional savings. Enter promotional code FALLSALE at checkout to receive the additional 20% savings. This is a limited time offer, while supplies last.

So if an item goes OOS then the discount won't work (I gather).

Re: DD - Awesome Autumn Sale - Save 20% on *SELECT TITLES*

I just looked through some of their DVDs and I've already concluded that their prices aren't really all that great, even with the 20% off. I'm still waiting for them to get Rose Red back in from being backordered (which wasn't even on the sale), I don't feel like waiting for however long it will take to get anything else from them right now, don't need the aggravation.

If my local BigLots happens to get Rose Red before DD's order ships, I'll cancel that order in a heartbeat. Apparently, I may have some time to look elsewhere... -kd5-

Placed my order on Friday (for LOST Season 6 Blu) and got the email today (Monday) saying it has been shipped.

Amazingly, everything on my two orders from this sale shipped today

I ordered several Flicker Alley titles, which don't go on sale all that often from what I can gather.

I also canceled my order for Thriller at $75 after ordering it with the DOTD pricing from Amazon.

Now if they could get around to the the BOGO blurays I ordered on 8/23 and 9/6 ...

My 2 BDs shipped too. However, I'm still waiting for these assholes to restock Zombieland. There's no excuse for it to take weeks to restock a simple Sony catalog title. If it's not shipped by the end of the month, I'll be canceling.

I just want them to start honoring their policies of price-matching items when they get beat on the price of a number of DVDs.

Neither my order from Thursday (of the seven, three were backordered), nor my order from October 4th have shipped. And neither has my order from Amazon, from September 27th.

Just wanted to vent for a bit.

My in stock order from Friday shipped on Monday. Not as fast as they once were, but better than I expected given their service lately. I ordered five Dark Sky titles from their Halloween sale over two weeks ago and none of those have shipped.

Received (!) a portion of my order earlier today. Note, however, that it didn't include the Halloween ('78) Blu-ray, which apparently didn't ship with the two others and is still listed as "Open".

Picked up the second box set of the MARIO BAVA COLLECTION for $14, a good deal for six movies, I think. I have to wonder if Anchor Bay will ever get around to releasing these on Blu.

Interesting. My 2 BD order shipped Monday and arrived today. The label says "presorted standard," as opposed to media mail. I wonder if that's a fluke or a step in the right direction. Still waiting for word on Zombieland though.

Presorted Standard is the new name for 3rd Class/Bulk Mail. It is conceivably even slower than Media Mail. Presorting means the shipper (in this case DD) prepares bags or trays of mail sorted according to destinations. If you live in a large city that had a lot of other orders at the same time, you're likely to receive your orders fasters because there was probably a designated bag or tray for your city. For those who live in more remote locations, your mail is sent to an area distribution center where the post office opens the bag and does additional sorting.

Many of you have probably noticed that DD has started shipping individual discs in 8 1/2 x 11 sized plastic envelopes with the plastic tray - this is sort the mail piece will qualify for a Flat, and therefore cheaper rates than Media Mail. This is sort of bending the rules (pardon the pun) because a flat is supposed to be flexible...and we all know a DVD or blu-ray is not flexible. But by putting them in the larger envelope with the flexible plastic, they suddenly satisfy the postal requirements.

Yes, I know - probably way more info than you wanted!

I'd wondered about those. Frankly they kind of stink as there's absolutely no protection for the top/bottom of the DVD. I've had a few in similar packaging from other vendors get damaged by the PO during shipment due to the lack of protection.

My order shipped on Oct 18.... today is Oct 28 and it has not arrived yet. Should I start to get worried?

What a coincidence, I also had an order shipped on October 18. As for your question, not yet. It has only been ten days. It could take up to fourteen business days to receive something from DeepDiscount. I would contact them if you haven't received your order by November 4 at the latest.

I've had them take 3 weeks after the shipping notice to get to me too. I think what happens (this is speculation) is that when it is packed and ready to go you get a shipping notice. Then they take it out and put it on a pallet that ships to your zip. When the pallet is full it goes to the P.O. There doesn't seem to be any other explanation for the time difference. Media mail is not THAT slow.

My order shipped really fast, but the Mario Bava Box Set was crushed on top of the box. So now I have to return it and wait for them to send me a replacement. Haha, even when they get their act together, they don't.

For what it's worth, my order from 10/14 arrived this Tuesday.

From what I've read, good luck with that. I've read they'll only replace a DVD if the *disk* is defective. Crushed/broken/damaged cases do not warrant replacement and they'll just send the same one back. Keep in mind this is *not* personal experience but just what I've read from others in past sales threads. Keep us posted on your success or lack thereof.

I've returned a couple of things to DD because of damage during shipping/slashed cases and received replacements, but that's been a few years ago.

I don't think that's true. I've returned stuff that had defective cases and they replace it. However if it is true, I'd just damage the discs. But seriously, I would have to hear a first-hand report to believe that.
