Re: Amazon Fall TV on DVD Week (9/6/10-9/12/10)

They always go live in the minutes after 12 AM Pacific time.

Today's deals are The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus 16 Ton Megaset (1982) for $34.99 and Jeeves & Wooster: The Complete Series for $20.99

Can anyone tell me how these prices compare to what Costco normally sells them for? I know Costco has stocked these titles in the past and I saw Jeeves & Wooster a couple of weeks ago, but I never noted the prices.

Wanting to bite on the $34.99 price for Python. Is that the best price it's been so far? Can't recall it being lower than $40 before, but I may be wrong.

I got my 16 Ton Megaset 2 or 3 years ago for about $30. I think at DD. Still, $35 bucks is mighty good. And the price on the Jeeves and Wooster is great. I probably spent $130 accumulating the four seasons. In fact, the very first DVDs I ever bought were J & W Season 1.

I also got Daria. I had it bookmarked for a few days now and was waiting right up to the hour to buy it. Great price for a complete great series.

Now I have to stay out of this section for a while. See you in October everyone!

Glad I didn't get it when Best Buy had it on sale for $27.50 + tax.

EDIT: The more I think about it, this is such a great deal. Five Seasons and Two Movies for $27, can't beat that.

Clearly anymore there is no reason to buy TV shows when they first come out. I never thought I'd see some of these on DOTD or at these prices.

How often does amazon.com do these TV weeks? Waiting for It's Gary Shandling's Show and Lost the Complete Series.

I agree. Now I'm starting to regret paying Buy.com $106.34 for that Monty Python megaset (that had nothing besides the 14 DVDs) back in 2001.....

You bought it nearly a decade ago.

Wait another 10 years and you'll get it for $5.

I may have paid around that much for it, too. I remember thinking that was a fantastic deal then, too.

I bought this too. I know it's technically a "kids" show, but I'm surprised to not see more people here talking about this deal. $40.49 for the first five seasons of this show is not a bad deal, especially when you consider the individual sets are around $20 each always and Seasons 4 and 5 were split into two sets. The amount of space saved with this release is also incredible and worthy in and of itself.

Amazon.com had "Shandling" at around $80 in March. It was part of a larger Shout! Factory sale. I made a pretty good haul on "SCTV" and "Andy Barker" too.

I'd just purchased it for around $140 a few weeks before (and this seems to be Amazon.com's standard price on that particular item) but luckily I was still within my 30 days so I returned the $140 set and made a second order for the $80 sale price.

I bought it for $36 shipped three years ago from A&E. It's a great deal either way.

It's not TV, but it looks like the Budd Boetticher collection will be a lightning deal at 2 p.m.

Agreed. I've got S1/2, but just Season 4 parts 1/2 are 20-25 bucks each. Even if I resell S1/2 for what I paid [which I think was at a BOGO sale], I'm ahead. Plus, though I don't know how the disks are packaged,it's definitely a much smaller package.
And while I personally don't know if I want to watch 100 episodes, I enjoy the show as well.

I bit on the Python set. I debated it because I swear Ive seen it for about $30 even in the past... I wasn't too sure though so I went for it.

Id jump on Firefly but right now I'm not satisfied with my TV/ps3 enough to buy stuff on blu i Have on DVD.
