Are you a Tati fan? Play Time is a great disc for a film that demands the best presentation possible.

Also, 8 1/2. Also a great disc, full of extras, and mostly an incredible film.

PLF is OOP, but some individual stores may still have one in stock.

Re: Criterion Sale? Ever Again? (NOW ACTIVE/ALIVE AT B&N)

Finally a success! Was able to use the $5 off on The Leopard
I would have been quite annoyed if they had shot down that one.
Also used a second 15% off (one time only!) on Night Train/Munich.

The woman was super cool, and before I even showed her which coupons I had she was "yeah sure, they shouldn't be a problem." Looking back, I'm positive I could have really maxed out picking up another $20 title and using a 10% off with a $5 off $50 as the cherry on top. They were even holding a few more things for me, so it's not like I would have had to struggle to find something else to throw in.
*sigh*

I'm just not quick on my feet I guess.

Any other Art House series suggestions?
Hidden Fortress
Beauty And The Beast (though I expect this one to get the Blu-ray treatment sometime in the next year or two).

Ordered Repulsion and Wings of Desire blus late Monday night and already received them - that's got to be a new record! Too bad about the coupons being nixed, but it means I will be saving more this month. Just as well, since most of the SD titles I was considering will likely pop up on BD eventually.

However, after waiting a few years to see if the original cut would ever pop up on Region 1, I finally broke down and order Kwaidan this time around. Haven't recieved that one yet.

You must have missed Trevor's post a few pages back:

Maybe someone's ears at B&N were ringing lol...I just got the same e-mails for both of my orders, with coupons applied as well! Che, Gomorrah, and Yojimbo/Sanjuro BDs are on their way! Now the question is, do I go back to the well for more...???

Rashomon has been touring the country as a newly restored 35mm print, which means it's probably quite likely for a blu-ray upgrade in the future. I have no idea how long the wait might be, though.

Yep, this was one that I believe people were thinking was going to disappear quickly, but it hasn't...both editions are still on Amazon as well as available from Criterion itself.

Re: Criterion Sale? Ever Again? (NOW ACTIVE/ALIVE AT B&N)

I was allowed to use the $5 coupon to get Stagecoach in blu for $13 plus tax with my membership. At first they said they I couldn't use the coupon because with my membership discount it was under $20. I politely asked if she would try the coupon to see if it worked. She said as long as it worked she would accept the coupon. Helps to have a nice cashier.

Re: Criterion Sale? Ever Again? (NOW ACTIVE/ALIVE AT B&N)

Since I don't have a Blu-ray player or HDTV but plan to eventually, I'm currently avoiding purchasing DVDs that are also available on Blu-ray (I want to avoid double dipping as much as possible). I do, however, I want to take advantage of this sale so I need some recommendations for the best Criterions that don't have BD counterparts. Thanks.

Re: Criterion Sale? Ever Again? (NOW ACTIVE/ALIVE AT B&N)

I just got back from my first trip to B&N and wasn't able to use the $5 off $20 coupon. I was told that even though it says it's $5 off a $20 item before discounts, the directions tell him to scan the item first, then swipe the membership card. The computer then thinks it's $18, and rejects the coupon. The salesperson admitted that it was a computer bug, but he still wouldn't override it.

I didn't want to push it, because I really wanted the last copy of Man Who Fell to Earth Blu-ray, so I just used the 15% off coupon and the $5 off $50 to go along with two other Criterions I bought.

Re: Criterion Sale? Ever Again? (NOW ACTIVE/ALIVE AT B&N)

Success with a couple more 5 coupon combos today. I'm rapidly approaching the point where I own every in print title. Maybe 80 to go, and I guess ~40 are oop, right? Either way, the local stores don't have much left I need, so I guess it's time to verify my missing titles and start ordering them to the store.

I think I'm going to "go for it" this sale, and try to complete all the in print ones. That should guarantee for the rest of you that the November sale is even better. Pissed off that I forgot to buy Nights of Cabiria last year when I had the chance.

I'm in the same situation. I just bought Blu-rays. I figure I'll just admire the Blu-ray case until I get a Blu-ray player.

Same here. The local library does have the DVD so that will tide me over till I get a Blu-Ray. Can't wait to see Paris Texas and Days of Heaven in HD.

Wow!!! I definitely want to see how your collection looks like right now. There are several oop's that I still need. My order today puts me near the 330 mark and I want about 400 or so of the titles from the collection. But I'm in no rush... I also snoozed last summer on the Cabiria title but hopefully it will be released on Blu.

Are you going for the Eclipse Series, Blu-rays and unreleased (in the Criterion Collection or Eclipse Series) Essential Arthouse titles as well?

Congrats! I was pretty serious into getting them all, but fell off the wagon a couple of years ago. I picked up Salo today and completed my run of 1-413. After that, I've got a few titles here and there, so I'm probably missing about as many as you. I can't "go for it" right now, but I'll probably pick up a few more before the sale ends.

During the sale so far, I've grabbed 6 titles (all with the $5 off) from 3 different stores. This morning was the first time I had tried to use two in one trip, and at the first store this morning, there was no problem. At the second location tonight, the guy said he couldn't take both. I informed him that they were in fact different coupons and he proceeded to question me about "How did you get two different ones? You're only supposed to get one when you sign up." I just said I got them in my email, but if he only wanted to accept one, I would put one of the titles back. He said he'd do it this once and did it as a single transaction with no problem.

My haul thus far is:

Salo
Science is Fiction
Che (Blu-Ray)
Revanche (Blu-Ray)
The Man Who Fell to Earth (Blu-Ray)
Hunger (Blu-Ray)
