I started the day in the Zion, IL Walmart around 5:30am and both the DVDs (regular and Blu-Ray) and video games were practically wiped out by the time I got there. As the day progressed, I went into the Kenosha, WI Walmart around 1:00pm and saw the same screwy prices you did. But, they had tons of the blu-rays, regular DVDs and video games that I couldn't find in Illinois! Since I had my ad, I asked a clerk why the prices were different (had no idea about this minimum price law Wisconsin had). She looked at my ad and guessed that when the doorbusters period ended, the registers may have had a glitch and maybe loaded the prices for Saturday. She said to show the ad to the register clerk and I'll get those prices. I bought quite a few blu-rays and video games using the ad.

I then decided to go up to the Racine store and see what they had (still oblivious as to the reason why there were different prices). Found a few more titles there (with the higher prices) and promptly went to the register with my ad and got the prices matched. A family behind me was buying some Blu-Rays and I told them to check their ad since they should have been $10. Right in front of the girl at the register, they opened their ad to the same page I had mine open to and I just about died when I saw the higher prices listed!! The cashier was also surprised and called her supervisor over, who in turn called the store manager to discuss what was going on. The manager filled us in, explaining the difference in regional pricing in Wisconsin due to the law (seemed he was the only one who knew why these prices were higher). He told the supervisor that since I already price-matched and paid, I was to be the last one who can do that! He instructed the supervisor to enforce the local pricing. The family behind had to pay the higher Wisconsin prices.

Then on the way home, I stopped in the Zion Walmart and they were wiped out of all the blue-rays and video games. I guess it paid to be ignorant for a day!

too funny. i was waiting for you to say the supervisor promptly escorted you out of the store and told you never come back to that store again. HAHA.

but really folks, after reading these replies, i think some of us are missing the point about the awesome deals. i am pretty sure these deals are lost leaders. walmart etc. are not making anything from cutting these deals. i look at the deals as a thanks for all the dough we spend at the retail locations. kind of like a payback. so my feeling is don't get ticked off if the deal didnt come through for you. period. i usually go into walmart, get the cheap movies and see whats available. that's it. i need to get an lcd but will have to wait for the mammoth crt to die. still works great. happy shopping all.

those were loss leaders, hence the price adjustments in WI and OK. those laws are on the books to protect the mom n pops but kinda sucks on black friday at the nationals.

me personally i am a a price comparer. i shop ads. i dont get upset, but i do get rainchecks when available.

having said that. my local walmart had a $h!t load of 2/5/9/10 dvd's left and yesterday they went to like 5/9/13/20 good luck getting some of those dvd's to move. i predict they will have some of those titles well into next yr.

Ha, I wonder if that means Walmart pays $3.20 for most of the DVD's we pay $10-15 for on a regular basis

That's also what I figured. My store had four full-pallets of $2 DVDs and one half-pallet up front next to the entrance (the other half was $5 DVDs). The one up front was the only one with any empty slots when I arrived at 4am. There were plenty of the other 2-disc and 3-disc sets so I figured my store just didn't get any "Mummy" sets.

I was a little bummed when I looked through the half-pallet up front and found only one "I Am Legend" 2-disc set and naturally, it had floaters. This was the main thing I had come for. However, I soon realized there were another hundred or so copies further back in the store so I swapped it out.

Later!

My local WM pulled all the BF "promo" DVDs by Sunday (and maybe Saturday) even though there was quite a large amount still available late Friday afternoon. Apparently they realized very few people would buy these titles at higher prices and didn't care to keep them available at the sale price if they were losing a buck or so each dvd.
