I'm experiencing the same frustrations. I was able to order Spider Man 3 (BD) and Casino Royale DVD yesterday and had no problem having them mail it to a PO Box. But Dark Knight BD and Altec Lansing speaker system for my iPod would not go through...

Amazon got a lot of my money, heck, I even went to the Coinstar with my change jar (almost empty!) so buy a few extras before I knocked off today, all are BD since I just upgraded last week:

The 400 Blows CC
Underworld
Underworld Evolution
Underworld Rise of the Lycans
There Will Be Blood
Raging Bull
The Departed
The Fountain
V For Vendetta
Batman Begins
I Am Legend
Mongol
Tropic Thunder
Wanted
The Transporter
The Aviator
Eastern Promises
Hellraiser
The Silence of the Lambs
Ghost Rider
Full Metal Jacket
2001: A Space Odyssey
Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street
300: The Complete Experience

and Inglourious Basterds, just to take advantage of the Amazon Prime trial.

That does not even begin the tear I went on at Movie Trading Company who were having a B2G1 sale this morning and I managed to get $350 in store credit and walk out with a lot of what I wanted.

I took in about 100, plus the I Am Legend DVD Ultimate, Blade Runner DVD Briefcase, Wanted DVD Gift Set. I've decided to go easy on the collectible packaging...

Although I've pretty much gone Blu already, I'm getting ready to take a bunch of DVD's in myself.....only things that I can buy on Blu though. I'm not a fan of collectible packaging.

Oh yeah...no more Big Lots trips for me! All those "deals" of $3 a pop add up quick. Why get 5 DVD's just because they're cheap when I can get 1 Blu that I really want? I will still continue to buy most TV shows on DVD though, with the exception of Star Trek and other Sci-Fi shows that have Blu available.

I still have well over 3000 DVDs, and my main mission was to replace my favorites with BD at Movie Trading Company. It will be a while before BD even comes close to having the selection that I like. I do still have a few titles on DVD and BD, mainly because I didn't realize that a lot of BD discs, older ones, didn't port the extras from their DVD counterparts. This is the case with Transporter 1 & 2, The Host, and a couple of others I've come across.

I've noticed this as well. I am probably going Blu within six months, but will not be replacing all my DVDs with Blus, as I am an extras guy and will be hanging onto titles where all the extras haven't been carried over. Plus I have a large number of titles that haven't seen BD release yet, and may not for a long while.

Not sure if it's part of Black Friday, but Warner Gangster sets 2-4 are $23.39 (set 1 is $26.31).
I think I'll pick up #4 at that price.

Forbidden Hollywood sets are also low. I'm picking volume 3 up at $20.29.

The 1 and 4 sets of Warner Film Noir are also $20.29 and $23.39 respectively.

I'll be hard-pressed to pay more than $14.99 for a new Blu-ray and more than $11.99 for a catalog Blu-ray after this, and MUCH less for DVDs.

RTP, I couldn't agree more with you!!

I refuse to pay more than $10 for a blu-ray movie now. I realize that I may have to wait awhile for certain movies to go on sale. Thank goodness I'm not impulsive enough to pay full price.

LOL @ people saying they will only pay $10 for BRs now. Black Friday is the best bargain day of the year but that shouldn't set the standard for your prices all year unless you only want catalog & used items. I have no problem paying $15.99 to 20.99 for new releases if I really liked the film.

Not counting Black Friday deals, many of us own hundreds of blu-rays for less than $10 per. The deals have been there for over a year now, you just have to be patient and observant. I own pretty much every blu-ray I want, over 150 films, for less than $7 per film.

The way I am with movies is if it's something I really want (e.g. Star Trek, the Hangover etc.) I don't mind shelling out 15-20 bucks to get it when it first comes out. The other 75% of the movies I want, I wait for them to fall to between 5-10 bucks.

Yep. Hell, Black Friday may have hurt my average cost!

Pretty much all of the Warner box sets are at 60% off MSRP ($24-20-16 for the more popular sets) right now. DD had them on sale for about 55% off and I was going to pull the trigger with one of the $5 coupons until they expired. Without the coupon, this is as low a price on these as I've seen other the rare BOGO sales.

Of course, you have to buy more than one title at these prices to get free shipping.

Thanks for the reminder about Forbidden Hollywood Volume 3. I normally would have been considering it in the DeepDiscount sale, but with the changes in that sale I forgot about it, and I've been mostly focused on blu-rays during this weekend's sales.

I check out the same threads as everyone else & the only ones I see for $10 or less is catalog & used titles. I don't see how I missed these deals. I'm assuming you might be talking about some Columbia House deals? I don't mess with them but that's only place to comes to mind with those prices.

No, only a handful of my titles came from Columbia House, and they actually raise my average cost. All the other titles were things found in bargain threads here on DVDTalk, some online and some in-store.

Examples include:

Monsters, Inc and Up were basically free at Target last week.
Amazon deal last year with 6 Bonds and 4 other films for $50 total.
Several Toy-R-Us deals.
Best Buy $10 off any BD coupon last year.
Warner Brothers store occasionally has GREAT deals.

$10 or less has always been my target price. My current average is $8.67 for 166 titles, but that's counting box sets and TV sets. Break that down to just movies and I'm sure I'm well below $7. The $10 movies the last few days will actually bump my average up a few cents once I get them all entered into the spreadsheet.

More on topic, what's the deal with Amazon not having a single DVD/Blu-Ray deal today?

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains

I thought I was done with Amazon, but I found several classic Warners SEs for 8.66. I only bought Treasure of the Sierra Madre and Sergeant York, but I also saw:
Bringing Up Baby
The Adventures of Robin Hood
Forbidden Planet
Ryan's Daughter
Bullitt
Casablanca
Yankee Doodle Dandy
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Around the World in 80 Days
East of Eden
A Streetcar Named Desire
Giant
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?

I couldn't find a direct link to these titles, but if you just search for warners special editions and limit it to classics these will all pop up.

Amazon has price matched BB on Fanboys (3.99). Plus I just got 2001 Blu-ray for 7.99.
