Also glad I was watching for the X-men trilogy to go on sale. I remember seeing it at the beginning of the week, and had forgot about it until this morning. Bought it about a minute after it went live.

Got in on the X-Men trilogy deal! :)
I guess I'm actually not that worried about missing it. I have a feeling we'll see a comparable price again eventually. I can wait. |
Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
Aw, crap. Forgot to set an alarm for True Blood. Fortunately, the g/f is being cool about it.

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
I picked up:
Wanted (BD) - $10 Drag Me To Hell (BD) - $11.99 Children of the Corn (BD) - $6.99 30 Rock Season 2 - $12.99 Flight of the Conchords S1 - $8.99 Flight of the Conchords S2 - $8.99 and I think I'm done. |
Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
I'm rather surprised that Mad Men: S1 [Blu-Ray] is still only at 21% claimed. That's the one I was waiting for the most all week long. Granted, they've had it at a sale price of $20.49 for a few days now, but still.

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
Are there any plans for Madmen: Season 2 (Blu-Ray) to drop a little more in price during this sale?

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
Ordered xmen united steelbook that they marked down to $6.99. From past experience I had a feeling as I placed the order it would arrive damaged and sure enough UPS drops it off and it is in a very thin bubble mailer nearly 4 times the size of the case. I could hear it slam on the ground as the ups guy dropped it in the door. The top of the case is bent and the spine is spliting apart from the cover and despite being shrink-wrapped there is leftover sticky residue from a previous security sticker.

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
Amazon is making me insane. SCRUBS SEASON 8 keeps popping back and forth between a $15 and $35 price tag-- four times now, including twice today.

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
My total amazon haul for the week (all DVDs except Beatles set which is CDs obviously):
Snow White 2-disc $15.99 (w/pre-order price guarantee) Santa Buddies $1.99 (w/Snow White pre-order) An American in Paris 2-disc $8.49 Body Heat Deluxe Edition $5.79 Total Eclipse $5.79 Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 1 $14.99 (Lightning Deal) Charlie Wilson's War $4.99 Prince of the City 2-disc $5.79 (watch this appear at BL again for $3.00 lol) Watchmen Theatrical Version $6.99 Beatles Stereo Box Set $99.99 (Lightning Deal) And from the Marketplace: Appaloosa $1.01 (wasn't around for Lightning Deal) Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 2 $8.50 All except the Beatles box were paid for with GCs obtained as Amazon Visa rebates. And I'm due another $50.00 worth of rebates next week or so. Amazon better make this stop or I will not have any cash left for pre-orders. But seriously, thanks to them for these great sales and for getting orders out fast despite the insanity that must be ensuing at their warehouses. Between this and the Criterion sale at B&N, it has been an incredible month for fans of DVD and Blu-ray. |

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
I want to jump on the Prison Break deal but I really would rather have the blu ray's from Germany or France.

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
I'll echo the remarks above - I've been crushed by this day. Luckily, I think these prices made me look at next week's Snatch/Lock Stock preorder and cancel it. $17.50 per title? Seriously? I'm hoping they drop at some point, or maybe Amazon will at least offer a discount for buying both. For now, with all of these additions, I can wait. The list below completely ignores all the other deals - printer, scanner, flashlight, hard drives, video games and other gadgets - that I couldn't resist.
Best Buy 300 Complete Experience BD 12.99 Dr. Strangelove BD 12.99 Zack and Miri Make a Porno BD 7.99 Walmart Blazing Saddles DVD 2.00 Amazon Monsters vs. Aliens BD 9.99 Coraline BD 11.99 Flight of the Conchords S2 DVD 8.99 Young Frankenstein BD 2.00 Spaceballs BD 2.00 The Jungle Book 40th Anniversary DVD 9.99 Casino Royale WS DVD 2.00 Watchmen BD 9.99 Eastbound and Down S1 DVD 9.99 Cars Gift Set BD 12.99 Courage Under Fire BD 8.99 Ice Age 3 BD 10.00 Gladiator BD 10.00 Waiting... BD 8.99 Lonesome Dove BD 10.49 Psych S3 DVD 12.99 Elf DVD 3.99 Wall-E DVD 4.99 I Am Legend DVD 2.00 Raging Bull BD 8.99 |
Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
Anyone else think a lot of these stores have hurt themselves by offering these really low prices, especially on Blu-rays? I think many people (myself included) are going to be rather hesitant going forward to drop the same money on DVDs and Blu-rays that they might have before these sales. I'll be hard-pressed to pay more than $14.99 for a new Blu-ray and more than $11.99 for a catalog Blu-ray after this, and MUCH less for DVDs.

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
If studios expect Blu-ray to emerge as the new dominant format, these are the kind of prices that consumers respond to. I would never pay $29.99 or $24.99 for a new Blu-ray release. $14.99-16.99 are reasonable prices and can bring the masses to Blu-ray.
