The steelbook is cool, but the completist in me will probably avoid it because the other Disney films are in standard cases. Exactly why I sold off my first six Bond steelbooks. Still, it's nice to see, and the Gladiator/Braveheart deal is solid.

It sounds like you get the standard case, in addition to an empty Steelbook case.

Looks like I'll be doing the pre-order on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Blu-Ray/DVD Combo pack to get the Steelbook, and Desperate Housewives: The Complete 5th Season. I don't know why Brothers and Sisters: The Complete Third Season is so expensive at Best Buy? I guess I'll just order it at Amazon.com for $38.49, along with Here's Lucy: The Complete First Season, since I can't find it in any stores around here, and get free shipping.

Holy smokes! It's getting a bit crazy with all these different versions/packages of movies being released. Personally I don't feel the need for steelbooks, but I'm usually a sucker for the most special/extra features. However, now the manufacturers have started catching on big time to all us suckers out there and if you include the steelbook version of Snow White then Disney will release 6!!! different packages come Oct. 6th. I know someone is crazy enough to want them all, but they better have deep pockets

If, for whatever reason they are not willing to give you the difference, then you could just repurchase both games on Sunday (for $30 less), and turn around and return them with your first receipt and get a full refund like that....

hmmm...same delema as last week but this time it's for season 6 of Two and a Half Men. if I buy it at least I'll be caught up in time for the seventh season in Sept. and I can re-sell it close to the same price after,...but if I rent it from Netflix than I woulden't be spending an extra $30 to see it b/c I already subscribe to Netflix.
hmmmmm what to do, what to do ?

Re: Best Buy Ad - 8/30 - 9/05/2009
It has been posted on other places that the Snow White SteelBook is free with the pre-order, and it is the size of a blu-ray steelbook. It comes with a slipcover, and it has slots for 3 discs. There is supposed to be a limit of 3 per customer, but we all know how that goes.
I'm sure the steelbook has UPC's for either the dvd or blu-ray releases, and you just take it up to the register to pre-order which ever one you want for $7.50, and then you walk out with the steelbook in hand. Some people have already picked it up. Hopefully, there will be plenty to go around since this is going to be up for pre-order up until the day before it is released.

Was everyone else able to find these? My best buy swore up and down, that they didn't have any and wouldn't be getting any until the blu rays actually came in.

Picked them up easily at my nearest store. I didn't find them in the blu ray section though, they were in the DVD section with the other Disney DVDs. I thought it was odd and wondered if people would pick this up thinking they were buying the DVD and going home only to find an empty steelbook. The checkout guy was on top of it though because he made sure a few times that 1) This was to preorder the movie and 2)if I was positive that I wanted the blu ray.
It's a very cool case and it is the same height as a standard blu case.

No, my store also did not have them and there is another person in a different thread that hit up 3 BBs with no luck.

Re: Best Buy Ad - 8/30 - 9/05/2009
This is confusing to me. Are people saying that in order to get the Snow White BR steelbook that you have to buy an empty one now for $7.50 and that these are so scarce that they may already be gone a month before its release? Then you get a $7.50 credit off your preorder to compensate for the steelbook and pick up the actual DVD set and transfer it into the new case on release date?
The current BR preorder price is $25.99, correct? So how does one use the $10 off Disney Snow White upgrade coupon for the preorder under this scenario? Not only do I expect Best Buy will be unable to handle the $10 off coupon NOW, but even on release date if they were to re-ring the sale they probably couldn't handle the coupon. I say this because I remember last time I tried to use a Disney coupon on Bolt BR, and I had to go to a different store because the manager at the 1st store refused to take it. At the 2nd store the less snotty manager had to override it manually to make it work. Why should this time be any different? Thanks.
Then assuming once has to do a return/rebuy and use the $10 off coupon on release date, let me take a wild guess... the $7.50 steelbook credit will no longer apply (because of the never-ending "offers can't be combined" or "markdowns taken from regular prices" excuse Best Buy always uses on me) and to get that $7.50 credit back I'll have to forego the $10 off coupon or have an argument with a manager that I probably won't win.
Sadly I've been through this all before, and I know how Best Buy plays the game. It's very YMMV. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions how to get the BR steelbook for $15.99 after coupon with the least grief possible?

Another strike out for me. atleast 2 of the 3 Best Buys in Raleigh, NC do not have the steelbooks in. The guy at the capital store told me they probably just didn't get them in yet.... apparently they didn't even get the pre-order cards yet either. He even went to the back to check.

For those of you that are having problems even finding these at the store, ask for a manager and have them check the SKU against their in-store stock on the computer. If their store shows # on-hand as more than a few copies, then chances are it may be somewhere in the backroom and haven't been put out yet. YMMV.

I went at lunch today and saw approximately 30 SW steelbooks in the new release section. You pay $7.50 now, take the SB home and bring the receipt to the Customer Service desk after the release date to pick up the actual release. You will then have $7.50 credited to your purchase and pay the balance. Hopefully, we'll be able to use the $10 off coupon at that time.
