I didn't know they had DVD shelves! Sounds like a purchase for me with the next 20% off coupon. I'll have to look for them at my stores...

That happened to a friend of mine at BL this week! Different movie though. I hope they're not re-sealing used DVD's and selling them as new... I've bought used from Suncoast, and several times had no DVD's in the cases...

I bought a copy of The Saddest Music in the World last year at BL. Opened it and inside was Missing in Action 2. The store had two other copies, both with Missing in Action 2 inside. Damn you Chuck Norris...

I also found a couple of these about a week ago. Picked up one and saw they were going for $50 on amazon's marketplace. Still opened it though...great movie. When I went back to grab another there was one left, and it was partially opened, so I left it.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I actually bought a sealed copy of Zero Effect from the Amazon marketplace for $9.74 shipped. Anyway, I went to a few Big Lots this evening and picked up:

Reality Bites
Inside Deep Throat (R-Rated Version; couldn't find the NC-17 version)
Backbeat
Here's Looking at You Warner Bros.: The History of the Warner Bros. Studios

Not a bad haul.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I picked up "Here's Looking at You Warner Bros." yesterday. No UPC slash, but a black line in marker through the UPC code -- under the shrinkwrap. This is the first time I've seen that. Far prefer it to the slash, and just as effective.

This title was part of a big set at one time, right? Must be a re-wrap. Wish they would do it this way for all the titles that are re-packaged from box sets. The Sinatra titles come to mind.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I found a new small shipment of double feature Paramount DVDs. Decent titles but unfortunately they are charging 6.00 each.

ones I saw were

in a single DVD case:

48 hours/another 48hours
Michael Douglas double Fatal Attraction/Black Rain
Jackass move 1 and 2 (in a slipcover boxset)
The Hours/Heart Burn
The Firm/Vanilla Sky

in 2 seperate cases shrinkwrapped together:

Unfortunate Events/Spiderwick Chronicles 2 disc
Bad news bears original/bad news bears new

There were some more I cant remember

For my first post,I'd like to address many remarks about the outside markings that are found on media product. While making this item ineligible for the public to return stuff at other merchants, the BIG reason the distributor does this is so this stuff doesn't come back to them for full credit. Books, music, video(I have no knowledge of the gaming business)-the distribution of these titles has always depended upon the ability to return unsold product. A store takes a chance on an unknown title and,if it doesn't sell, the store sends the title back for credit. When things are done legally, the distributor can write off certain amounts of product from their inventory, while not actually discontinuing the availability of certain title. They still sell it,but they have lots less copies of it. They can rid themselves of these copies, and do so,with the understanding that these excess quantities will never return. The markings-hole punching, band saw cuttings, new UPC or blank stickers over original UPCs, ink markings or slashings over UPC -let everyone know, from the customer to the president of Warners, that this stuff is being sold differently than everything else. Live with it and enjoy the bargain.
Also,in my first post,I would like to mention that I am in short distance of three Big Lots here in the Lehigh Valley,Pa. and, hope to contribute some sightings of product. I suspect I will not join in the trading, but that may change.I do not do business with Wal-Mart or Best Buy and there still are no Costcos around here. A couple of lame FYEs(though there is a cool one some distance in the Reading area-home to a large retail outlet area) and I enjoy a good bargain. Also, outside of people losing their jobs,I am in glee that Hollywood Video is possibly, finally biting the dust.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I picked up the following yesterday for $3 each:

The Affair of the Necklace
Chasing Liberty
Dead Calm
Here's Looking At You, Warner Bros.
Lost in America
Jabberwocky
The Mosquito Coast
Night Shift
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (2-disc SE)
Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment

I almost got The Candidate, but when I was looking at it in line, I noticed it was the full-screen version. I checked DVDPriceSearch and it looks like a MAR version was the only one released.

What did your copy of "Willard" look like? Was it like how i described?
I know the "foggy" spots you're talking about, sometimes they don't affect playback at all. Willard was flawless looking, no marks of any kind. But it's dual-sided, and probably was just not glued correctly. That was sadly a replacement for my previous copy of Willard which ended up going bad (and also looked fine) sometime during my ownership of it. The only other movies I remember (over 2000) I've had which rotted was The Pianist, and one disc in The Flintstones S3. All of these are double-sided discs, and boiling didn't ultimately help either. After boiling a few times, I was able to rip them to the pc right away before they were (shortly thereafter) unreadable again. Maybe I just need to boil them a few more times? They are just now collecting dust.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I was down in Florida for a few weeks and managed to find a couple of Big Lots and bought about 30 titles; and a few more in Mobile on the way home. I got out to one of the local Big Lots on Saturday and picked up few more, including: Road to Utopia, Memphis Belle, Jackie Chan quad feature, Cradle 2 Grave, Diner/Liberty Heights, and Dirty Harry. Quite the orgy of Big Lots DVD buying the last few weeks. Time to take a breather and watch some of them...

Picked up today for $6:

"Spin City" - Michael J. Fox, His All-Time Favorites V1/V2 (2 Keepcases in a outer box)
20 Episodes @ 8hrs. 4mins.

Since S1-S3 are still in print I'm not sure I'll keep it - but it does seem to be a good value sampler.

Love that show......... one of the greats in my opinion. I remember paying $20-$25 for each volume when those came out. Excellent best of for anyone who doesn't want the entire seasons. The episode with Woody Harrelson might be the greatest Spin City of all time.
