The companion set, THE GOREHOUSE GREATS COLLECTION, was sold prior to Halloween for only $5 at Wal-Mart. Most of the titles in both sets have been available previously, so there could be a effort on to move 'em out at discount prices.

I found Tabitha at the one in Charleston but it's been awhile. I also got a few extras if you have anything to trade.

Just got back from the W.Bridgewater MA, store ...NUTHING.....it's weird there were a few different ones from the other day but none of the titles that everyone else are finding.

They did have The Too Cool For School title ...it's funny they are getting a few dribs and drabs in, otherwise the 4 sided rack looks pretty depleted and it's been that way for 3 plus weeks.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Now I know why I can't find anything at my local Big Lots. I talked with a clerk at the store and he told me that a guy came in right before Halloween and loaded up 3 full carriages worth of DVDs !!!!
The funny thing is that the guy loads up one carriage and pays for everything leaves and comes back in 2 hours and then loads up another one and then comes back in another 2 hours and does the same thing!

They of course noticed this and are now talking about limiting DVD purchases
to 2 or 3 a customer for an individual title.
So anyway this is why I have not seen any of these new DVDs the clerk said they put up the Halloween display before 9 am and it was taken down by late afternoon cause this guy wiped them out!

I thought the resellers were gone since the box sets dried up but I guess I was wrong.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

^As long as there are $3 DVDs and someone thinks they can make a quick buck on 'em there'll be resellers/hoarders/leaches. That's also why you'll have problems getting those low priced/high profile "loss leader" DVDs on BF. A couple of years ago during a BF sale at WM I saw a guy empty the Star Wars display when they had the trade paperback in the package with the DVD. He had over a dozen copies of each title.

The "reseller" I saw a couple of weeks ago with a cartfull at BL apparently found out how unmarketable the "Evening with Kevin Smith 2" DVDs are 'cause over a dozen have shown back up... just about what he had in his cart. The "Stan Lee..." DVDs have not come back in... yet... but I expect to see ~12 of them show back up in the next week or so...

I ran into a reseller at Biglots yesterday. He had a shopping cart filled with every copy of the following:

Out of Sight/Intolerable Cruelty and all the other Double Feature Universal titles
Red Dragon 2 disc Directors Edition
Nowhere in Africa
Significant Others: The Series
Hostel: Unrated
Saboteur
Gross Pointe

There should be NO limits on how many copies of a title you can buy. Biglots is in business to sell, sell, sell.

I think the problem lies with the Biglots return policy. With a 30 day return policy, the reseller can swoop into Biglots and buy every copy in sight and return it in 30 days if he can't sell it. With this kind of policy, Biglots is supplying the reseller with inventory for free during the 30 day period.

Biglots should change their return policy for DVDs, CDs and PC games.

If it were me, I would change the policy to:

7 day return policy for DVDs, CDs and PC Games.

or

30 day return policy for DVDs, CDs and PC games with a 20% restocking fee.

Just my 2 cents....

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I basically agree with DeepSleep.

Big Lots is a liquidator & retailer. They want to sell. That's what they do: sell, Sell, SELL. Most of the stores are going to encourage resellers because they want to sell as much as possible & as quickly as possible. In fact, the entire chain is specifically set up to accommodate resellers of everything they sell, not just dvd's.

The reason some full price retailers limit purchases on blow out sales is because either

a. they're selling a specific item at a loss to get people in the store
or
b. They have a very limited supply of the blow out item & again they're using it to draw customers in.

NEITHER is the case with Big Lots. They are basically a liquidator that sells to the general public & they are there to move PRODUCT & make money.

On the other hand, this is just a guess but I suspect the quickest way a reseller can get them really angry is to return a quantity of unsold dvd's (or anything else that isn't defective).

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

whether anyone agrees with allowing resellers (or hoarders or whoever) buying up all of the big lots stock or not, if big lots continues to refund mass quantities of "unsold stock" because the reseller could not sell within 30 days, its reasonable to think that big lots will change their return policy sooner or later. maybe they will have little choice but to do as deepsleep suggests?

They are both really, REALLY good.

Grosse Pointe is a great snarky fun look at the 'behind-the-scenes' shenanigans of a 'teen' show (like a funny tell-all about 90120). If you like 30 Rock, you should love Grosse Pointe.

Nowhere In Africa is a beautifully filmed, written, and acted drama. It is a foreign film, so be prepared for subtitles.

Well,.....the clerk I talked with last night told me that some guy wanted to buy all the stock of one particular dinning room table that they got in stock.
They turned him down and told him he could buy only 3 of them and there was a reason behind it and now I can't remember.

A reseller can hurt their business in the long run , lets say the reseller comes in a buys all the DVDs and this continues to happen for a month .
I as a customer go there looking for said DVDs and never find them and I don't purchase anything and every time I go I bring my wife and normally she finds something else to purchase towels,toothpaste,mirrors....etc.
Now if I stop going not only are they losing my sale (which I guess doesn't matter cause the reseller spends his money on the same merchandise) but they are losing the possible sale and extra customer in my wife.
My wife is looking for a new headboard for our bed ,what if one of these visits she finds one she wants and it costs $500-$600?......now they lost that possible sale.
All because this one guy is using BL as his wholesaler......it doesn't make sense for BL .

Are the movies on the Too Cool For School collection each on its own disc side, or did they cram 2 each onto a single-layer side?

Was looking for The Right Stuff (2 disc CE), but no luck.

Picked up Druids (with Lambert) and Vernon, FL (a documentary).

Saw a copy of Rollover and Liberty Heights. Lots of UFC videos. Barbara Streisand collections and the other collections people were talking about (comedy, horror, and something else).

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Burien Wa had pretty much the same stuff as everyone else. 3 items I haven't seen elsewhere:

There were two 2 film $8 boxes. One was 2 versions of Annie (original & sequel I think). I don't remember what the other was, but ithey were common films.

Also saw the $15 gangster box mentioned previously.
