Re: Big Lots Part 6

Just got back from location in Cincy. They had a new stock of movies and all of the cartoon box sets mentioned above as well as bunch of copies of Murphy Brown S1 and Lois & Clark box sets.

I picked up Pinky And the Brain.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

The funny thing is that yesterday the cashier gave me a flyer and pointed out the $3 DVDs which were pictured as the same stuff they have had all week
and yet today there was very little left and it was all new ReStock single WB DVDs???

I hope mine isnt that way. I am just really confused with Big Lots stores in general. The one nearest me seems to wait until the ad kicks in while others that are like an hour to 2 hours away from me already brought these out weeks ago.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

La Habra store this morning was fully restocked I picked up the following:

The Flintstones 4 & 5 (they had 2 & 3, but not vol. 1)
Penelope Pitstop
Top Cat
Dastardly & Muttley
The Huckleberry Hound Show Vol. 1
Birdman & The Galaxy Trio
Wacky Races
The Batman Vs. Dracula (mini-figurines)
Batman Vol. 1 & Superman Vol. 1 (two pack)
Appleseed Ex Machina (tin)

I doubt we will ever see anything like this again. I'm sure by now Warner's has adjusted how many box sets they need to manufacture going forward. Plus the fact that stores (with the exception of Best Buy) just aren't stocking massive quantity's of any DVD's anymore.

I'm also pretty skeptical that any of these sets will ever have a Blu-Ray release. So you better pick them up now while you still can.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

*Long post warning*

Stopped this afternoon to get some household supplies (I now shop there thanks to this DVD bonanza)... First store, everything looks the same at first glance. Then I see Roots Complete (3 copies) so either someone returned them or they put a few out. I also found something else for a lucky DVD Talker here. More on that in a minute.

First - on that Roots Complete. I watched Roots this week (picked it up two weeks ago) and sure enough, disc 3 started digital glitching and freezing. So, if you're thinking no big deal on a few surface scratches I'll take my chances... My advice is to avoid it. Unless you're willing to gamble. The discs in that packaging (at least in mine) looked like someone had used them as a hockey pucks.

So, I stopped at the other store... There's an as advertised $3 box sets sign out. But no sets. I ask and the cashier looks at me like I'm from Mars. She asks the manager and the manager says there's just a few left. Um, no, there were no $3 box sets on the floor at all. So, either a reseller cleaned them out between Thursday night at 8:30 and this afternoon at 2:00 or they're still in the back.

I'm checking again right before close, just in case. But I'm still going with my they will stock them on Tuesday night in time for Wednesday theory.

I did not find the Looney Tunes box... However, I did find another copy of the America's Game 40 disc set. I'm going to trade it here for Tales From The Crypt (will probably need to be 4 or 5 seasons though to make up for the shipping weight - this thing is a monster). OR I'm going to sell it for cost ($10.60) + shipping.

Please do not PM me about it... Keep your exchange postings updated. If I come up empty in my TFTC search I will PM you on Wednesday about a possible trade scenario. If I find TFTC then I will offer it for sale on Wednesday.

BTW, in case you were wondering, that set is completely different than the individual SB sets. It was made for the NFL Network. I started watching it this week and it is by far the best NFL documentary that I have ever seen.

Yeah, it was a good birthday. I would have liked to have seen more that I don't have, but I think I did pretty good. I might go back tomorrow to see if they put out anything else and maybe pick up the War at Home.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

Went today South Florida.........had a $3 sign and NO ONE including the manager knew what i was talking about. They had out 2 HB sets........Penelope somthing and Birdman and Larry King sets.

I passed on it all and waled out.

Called another 7 BLs and no one knows what a $10 boxed set is so I am ALMOST giving up on them showing up in Florida.

If anyone wants to help a fellow collector out i am looking for most of the $10 sets and will pay you Double what it costs and shipping to make it worth your time.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

I don't think I can catch up with this thread anymore. I was sick for 2 days and couldn't leave the bed and now it is Part 6 page 11. I tried to read most of it but if anybody from St. Louis or Metro-East area find any of the "Miracle" $10 sets please post it here.
I really really really really really want them but I am kinda sick of looking for them.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

Went to mine today. Had something new alright... a new sign saying "as advertised - $3 sets." Nothing new product-wise though . Checking back tomorrow and hoping they put something out and that they didn't decimate their stock with the titles that have been dribbling out onto the floor earlier in the week (though I'm suspecting that is the case).

Cheers.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

Hit three stores in DFW today and they were all cleared out. Looks like the party might be over for me. I still have some salty stuff in the exchange forum, however, including Tales from the Crypt 1-6.

Both stores had Popeyes, Flinstones, small quanities of other H-B animations, I scored a Pinky & the Brain set, Adv. of Superman TV , second season and seasons 3&4 sets, but low in quantity.
I am hoping both stores will put out more tomorrow, but could depend if they have shelf space to do so. I'd love to find Bond movies! If someone finds goodies at the Plainfield store, please post, have not been there yet.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

None of the $3 or $10 sets have shown up here in Thomasville, GA yet. My store gets their stock in on Wednesday and usually has it put out some time on Thursday. They usually don't keep stock in the back unless the display is full. When the first $6 sets showed up I asked if they had any more and they brought out the rest of the $6 sets in a buggy for me to look at. I buy a lot of DVDs from my local store and unlike some of the BL employees mentioned in this thread they are all nice folks. So I'm hoping I'll actually get to see some of these titles on Thursday. There seems to be little rhyme or reason to BL's distribution methods but here in GA and FL looks like we were left out of the deal on the $3 and $10 sets. GL to all.
