re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

For those who are interested, I was in my Barnes and Noble today and asked about Repulsion, and the salesperson checked her computer and said that it will be 50% off when it comes out in store. Dunno about online, though.

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

I was in B&N today and the sales clerk said that every Criterion is 50% off and even offered to order something if it wasn't in stock. So, if there's something you're looking for that isn't online, just head to a B&M. They even had 15% off coupons (for members) at the counter. I'm not a member, but he told me about the membership, the 10% off and the 15% off coupon.

Doesn't appear this will be on sale online. Current online prices are $35.99 for the standard DVD, and $39.99 for the blu-ray version. I may try to get the blu-ray version at my local store using a 20% printable coupon with my membership. The 20% coupon though is ymmv since it is technically for renewals.

FWIW, Amazon seems to be matching this sale for Blu-rays. They have quite a few at $19.99-

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

I received my criterion blu-ray discs today from BN. They are in digipaks. Is this right? Shouldn't they be in plastic clear cases?

These are my first criterion blu-ray discs. So I don't have any idea what they should be. The ones I got are 400 blows, the third man...

Looks like the majority of the newer releases (May and on) are now a part as well.

Such as Friends of Eddie Coyle, Bergman Island and My Dinner with Andre.

Repulsion is also now on sale, as I imagine other pre-orders are.

Edit: It appears that only the July releases are on sale

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

anyone know anything about B&N returns? Just got my order today - everything looks excellent except the Bergman box , 2 loose discs and the outer box is sadly a little worn too. I hate to be so anal but it wasn't cheap.

edit: I opened it. Had to make sure that rattling sound was a disc and not an insert. would like to return it if it's not going to cost me $5 to send it back. do they cover return shipping? any advice ?

Along with those, the Shohei Imamura boxset (Pigs, Pimps, and Prostitutes) is now available at the sale price. $40 for that is outstanding, along with the Ingmar Bergman Trilogy.

I'm trying to pace myself by sticking with "necessities" for the time being, but it's hard not to barrel through my dusty wishlist and knock out a ton of them with one swift shot. So far, I've picked up The Seventh Seal Blu-ray and the Imamura box in-store, while I ordered Before the Rain, Last Year at Marienbad Blu-ray, and pre-ordered Repulsion on Blu-ray through BN.com.

Give customer service a call and they should send out a pre-paid return label and send out a replacement. You can also do exchanges directly at a store if they have the title in stock.

Just preordered two July releases from B&N, Repulsion (Blu-ray) and Made in U.S.A. (DVD), and canceled my Amazon preorders.

lasermovies, you are a helpful guy! thanks for your advice. I called b&n and they were SUPER easy to work with - a replacement is shipping out to me today and they are sending a return slip as well - i thought i was going to have to wait until they recieved and processed my return to get a new one and was worried I may miss the sale price - but no worries! thanks !

The Essential Art House collection is also part of this sale. Grabbed La Strada at my store today for $9. Cannot beat that.

It looks like Bing won't be giving any cashbacks when using a coupon so I placed an order using a coupon through Fatwallet at 8%...hopefully they will give a rebate.

$18.29... that's the final price with free expedited shipping for my "Repulsion" blu-ray pre-order through the 50% off sale right now at Barnes & Noble.

I just had to go cancel my Amazon pre-order, which was priced at $24.49.

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

talking about B&N using the wrong artwork on their dvds - does that mean that if I order 39 Steps I will get the usual cover with the close up of the two faces , or the cover they are showing on there? I don't care for the artwork they are showing , I want that original one!

They seem to have pulled the Repulsion Criterion from their website.
