Dang, wish I would have known the membership had a 30 day trial before I used the 20% online coupons this morning. So much to learn.

I F'n pre-ordered that from Amazon I think for $21. I am going to be so depressed when this sale ends. If it was a weekend sale, or just one day, it wouldn't even be that bad. But I've made about 7 or 8 trips to various B&N's, plus going the past two weekends, it's like a routine now, stop in every few days, & try out a new Criterion for $9, what the hell. It will feel outrageous going back to pre-ordering Criterions for around $25.

When redeemining the $5 off $20 coupon, does the store really verify that you started your membership during the specified period of time?

Have you posted everything your ordered? If so, I must have missed it.

And, I picked up Made in USA today on my way home from work for a beautiful $9.

picked up Dazed and Confuzed, the Man who Fell to Earth, and Army of Shadows for $65. To be honest, I'm going to have a really hard time buying criterions for anything over $25 a piece...

I picked up probably my 10th item from the sale today in-store: The 400 Blows Blu-Ray for $13.00 even before tax.

The cashier was blown away that it was so cheap, heh. I'll head back tomorrow to pick up The Man Who Fell to Earth and hopefully Repulsion if they get it in.

Good guide btw Trevor, thanks.

My pricepoint has always been $15 or less, and I've scored close to 200 over the last few years. Hard to wait sometimes, but patience has paid off several times.

No problem. Just a rough draft, and things are so YMMV that I'm sure there are multiple ways it could be improved. Formatting sort of sucks too. But hopefully it will help a few people get started and save a few repeated questions.

Buy four, use both of the $5 coupons and both of the 20% off coupons. This brings the total to $54.80, enabling you to use the "transaction" coupon $5 off $50. Total is now $49.80 for four $40 Criterions. Also, I'll get 5% cashback for using Discover.

Now, I'm not sure, but I think if I added a 25 cent bob-bon to my order, making the total $50.05, I could have used the other $5 transaction coupon, making the total $45.05 for four $40 Criterions and a bon-bon (and 5% cashback). Talking to the clerk after the transaction, we were pretty sure it would have worked. I didn't want to push my luck and ask for a re-do.
Well, I tried Trevor's method for maximizing my coupons, but I think I got the biggest douche in the chain working in the store I went to today.

Wouldn't stack, wouldn't do separate transactions, wouldn't let me come back later/another day. Just went out of his way to deny all but 1 coupon. Said it was "abuse".

I did walk away with Wages of Fear (BD) for $13....

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

Trevor, nice summary on the use of coupons. Thank you.

Now my question(s). There seems to two types of membership coupons when a membership is purchased or renewed. Those offering 20 or 15% when renewing or the stackable $5. when a membership is purchased. On line non-renewing members can use the latter but locked out from the former. But I am interested in store usage. It seems any member can use the $5. ones, but can any non-renewing member use the 20 or 15% coupons? If so, and this applies to both sets of coupons, can they be used multiple times, printing out the same coupon multiple times, but using the same membership number for the purchase? I am presuming the purchases are made on seperate days or as part of a different transaction.

Moot point since one is expired, but I verified that the two different $5 off $50 coupons did not stack.

Technically, all the coupons are pretty clear in their fine print, and no one with only one membership should be able to use every coupon.

But the computers allow one of each different coupon per transaction, one coupon per item, plus one additional 'transaction coupon", the $5 off $50.

So it really is YMMV. You may be able to use 7 different coupons per transaction, five times in a row with the same cashier, or you may get denied every single coupon (legitimately, unless you renew a membership on the spot, or created a membership during the terms of the fine print).

In reality, most people have no trouble using one coupon per transaction, and then using the same coupon the next day/store.

Bought The Adventures of Antoine Doinel for $35.00 but on a 2 week shipping delay. Definitely my last Criterion purchase for this sale. I hope.

NEED SOME HELP:

Bought The Fallen Idol (MSRP 29.99) and used the 5 dollar off of 20 coupon. Went to a different store to get a different film (The Hit) and the coupon was denied. I used the membership the first time, is it only one coupon per membership? I want to get more for 8.50 plus tax, any ideas? I NEED MORE CRITERIONS!

I believe, with all the discounts, I spent right around $280 for it all. That's why I said in an earlier post I hate this sale (even though I love it) because I'm pretty much broke because of it.

It averages out to about $6.50 a movie. Of course, that's mostly because of the Eclipse releases. Still an amazing deal though.

That's what it says in the fine print, but I believe you are the first one to report this. Up until now, the coupon has worked on subsequent visits to the same or different stores. Perhaps B&N is getting wise to this.

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

So, does anyone know when/if Contempt is really out of print? It's listed as such on DVDAf and I had no idea this was the case. If it's going to disappear soon I'd like to pick up a copy as I'm a fan of Godard (even though Contempt is one I've never seen before). Should I order a copy before this sale is over?

Repulsion-Blu-ray is no longer considered a pre-order. I just grabbed it for $15.93 shipped through the military.com link and the 20% off coupon that's about to expire(P3N9L8M). Not bad for a non-member.

Just ordered the Repulsion BD. Hell. Yes.

Definitely love BN.com right now. Debating trying to sneak one last order in before the 20% coupons expire.

Can't wait for tomorrow

Definitely hoping getting into my local B&N early before work will help secure a copy of Repulsion on Blu-Ray!

according to criterion.com, it is listed as oop. im sure they know lol. that said, mmm does not list is oop, though they may do so later. this said, this may be a temporary issue - maybe a br is in the works? maybe rights expired indefinitely? maybe rights are being re-acquired? these things said, criteriondvd.com has them available for sale. and so on.

prolly doesnt, but hope it helps
