In browsing the sale thread from last November, the sale was only extended a day (from the 23rd to the 24th). DD sent e-mails to select customers alerting them of the extension on the 23rd.

Last June, the codes (20% off) were extended an entire week (from the 22nd to the 29th). During that sale, DD sent out e-mails to customers on 6/20 alerting them of the extension, which was a full 2 days before the original end date.

There are a few more cheapish DVDs I'm considering, but was waiting to see if the sale would be extened so they could go on my next billing cycle. I'd hate to wait too long and have the codes be deactivated.

WHY do these assholes have such a hard time keeping track of their inventory!? View an item page, says in stock, add to cart - backordered. Go to the item page again and it STILL says in stock. I also ordered Mysterious Cities of Gold when the sale started, which came up backordered. However, it's listed as in stock now, so where the hell is my copy!?

I was planning another order, and I suddenly lost my whole cart. Now I'm not sure I want to bother anyway.

Ditto. A couple days ago, everytime I added one particular DVD to my cart, the whole thing would disappear.

Just a couple minutes ago, I tried to access my shopping cart and discovered it was suddenly filled with random items I didn't even add - books, CDs, etc. It's like I had somehow accessed someone else's cart entirely. I hit refresh and suddenly the correct items appeared again.

Looks like DD already raised the prices on a lot of their CDs that were under the "MEGA SALE!" logo (of course, the "MEGA SALE!" logo is still on those CDs). Luckily I don't see any price increases on DVDs.

I've been looking into if they plan to re-release more of them and no mention anywhere. I have Lexx 2.1 on dvd but that's all I have of the series at present.

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye out too, but I think they are owned by different companies. Samething now with Earth Final Conflict, I bought S1 and don't want to shell out a ton for the OOP later series.

Quick question I hope someone can answer before the sale is over -- Has anyone ordered the Hitchcock Premiere collection during this sale? What was the quality of that set? I've been wanting it ever since I saw it was announced, but the disc problems has made me hold back.

I think ADV had Seasons 3-5 for a while and 1-2 had been tied up in legal limbo for a bit.

The packaging flat out sucks. I wouldn't be so harsh if the spiral-bound book contained deep, meaningful information...instead it's just some factoids with maybe half a page of text on each film. Artfully put together, but devoid of any true value.

In the set I received (from the last 25% sale), one disc did have significant scratches...but the pattern of scratches bore no relation to sliding into the card sleeves; the scratches had to have been sustained in production. Ironically, this disc played perfectly for me.

Another disc (I think it was Suspicion) looked perfect, but froze up about 60-minutes into the film. This happened on four different DVD players and two different computer systems.

I was eventually able to made a DVD-R of that disc, but it wasn't an easy process.

Shortly afterwards, I sold it on Amazon (and sent the buyer DVD-R of the two potentially bad discs). He gave me postive feedback, so I'll assume either the originals worked for him, or the copies I sent.

It's a great collection of films, but there's no definitive method of knowing if you've got good discs or bad ones.

most likely they went out of stock and couldnt get anymore, these are bci titles and therefore out of print

Damn, yeah, I think I'll just keep holding off on the set. I really want it to fill in the gaps in my Hitchcock collection but I don't feel like being bothered with all that frustration.

Every June and November for the past few years, until this year when it was in July instead of June. No telling what will happen later this year, since their business ( Infinity Resources, Inc. ) is clearly changing. The prices at DD and DVDPlanet aren't the deals they used to be, and DVDPlanet never did their site working properly during this sale.

I wanted to get We Were Soldiers (BD), but could not get the item to add to my cart. So, I e-mailed CS and asked what the problem was. They said that title had been discontinued. 1 week later, have they removed or adjusted the web page yet? Of course not, it still shows "in stock".

Thought for sure I would place another order in the last couple of days for some odds and ends, but nope. This one will pass with a bit of a wimper for me. I looked around at my collection in the last few days and it finally hit me that I have just way, WAY too much stuff that I need to make use of and enjoy before any more off hand impulse purchases are made.
I got all my major 'needs' taken care of up to this point, along with a few hopefully fun blind buys thrown.
I kept to my original budget and that makes me very happy right now.

Just placed a final order of odds and ends; intended to just get The Middleman, as I saw the pilot a while back and enjoyed it, but had a rush of random titles I decided to check, and ultimately purchase. I remember loving the second season of the Joe Schmo show when it aired, and was pleased to find it under $10 since I imagine it will rapidly fade into (further) obscurity. Picked up the two live-action Discworlds as well.
