Looks like this Target exclusive is only showing up with the Blu-ray version, very interesting. I wonder if that's what happened with the Batman/Superman release as well. Does anyone remember seeing the Target exclusive disc for that release? Haven't seen any Justice League Blu-ray at any area Targets but I can comfortably pass since it's just the two JLU episodes, as is being reported.

And what is with these midnight retailer exclusives??? I hadn't even realized there was such a thing until the Transformers 2 release, as reported by xage. And now it turns out there was an Iron Man one, too??? I don't even recall this stuff being reported here at the time of their release. Snausages and xage, thanks so much for posting the news and photos. How do you find out about these releases in advance? I'd like to be up on this stuff in future.

Has anybody found any JL exclusives at Wal-Mart or Borders? I have not checked the latter, and the former surprised me by NOT having their standard exclusive lenticular slipcover on the single-disc (so maybe my local 'mart simply didn't get them). Actually, same question for FYE, who usually gets a poster. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Lastly, any confirmation of the alleged Blockbuster exclusive Planet Hulk with the comic book?

I may be slightly wrong in the details, but here is what I remember at the moment.

It was a bonus disc available only by mail for purchasers of the first Alien boxset, The Alien Legacy. The bonus disc was also called The Alien Legacy, pictures can be found if you google it. It came in a small sleeve and had one documentary, which I think is this one.

I don't think this mail-in disc was ever sold separately, but I could be wrong.

Last quick comment on this tangent, to probably just repeat what I said earlier. One reason why I think I'm really slowly getting out of my collecting/hoarding is that I'm finally getting into actually enjoying the content that I've been accumulating all these years. I have enough DVDs to keep me happy for the rest of my life, and this isn't even counting the lifetime's worth of comic books, two thousand music CDs, and hundreds of books. I'm getting 'addicted' to watching and reading my things, leaving less time for buying/organizing. Not no time, just less time, I know I'll always be a collector.

I saw one copy of the Blu-ray of Justice League at one of the Targets near me, but it didn't have one of those "Target Exclusive" red & white stickers on it. It did have a sticker with a barcode stuck over the barcode printed on the actual back cover though, like some of the exclusives have. But I don't know if that means it's the exclusive version or if they stuck a barcode sticker on all the Blu-rays of JL. Any advice on that?

Experience has shown me that the barcode sticker is nearly always the best indicator of whether or not a given disc is the exclusive version. In fact, due to those terrible, slipcover-mangling, retractable "pockets" Target uses, the front stickers are often accidentally torn off as the discs are loaded in. My suggestion would be to express your concern to the electronics rep before buying it, open the disc in front of him/her after paying, and if the bonus disc is not in evidence, ask him/her to escort you to the returns desk for verification and return/exchange. A pain in the ass, to be sure, but considering how rare these things seem to be, it might be your only recourse.

Then again, if the bonus content has in fact been added to one of the existing disc, this idea won't work at all...

My Blu-ray Disc copy of "Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths" did have the Target exclusive sticker on the front of the slipcover, as well as a different UPC sticker under the slipcover on the shrink wrap over top the regular UPC on the back case art....
FYI, the standard UPC on the BD back cover is: 8 8392909473 8
The Target exclusive version UPC on the sticker is: 8 8392911935 6

Thanks for the kind words, Trevor. It's a great topic no matter what forum it interrupts or inspires.

With regards to your approach of enjoying what you have rather than constantly seeking or adding what you don't, I have been trying to do the same thing the last couple of years, but only with limited success. Everytime there is a great sale I find something I want and thus more titles, DVD, books, music, etc. land in my own personal queue, which now stretches years ahead of me.

It does exist! I went back to Target to see if the copy of the Justice League Blu-ray they had was the one with the exclusive UPC (thanks again for posting that, WMAangel), and to my surprise they had restocked the JL DVDs and Blu-rays. To my surprise, staring out from the front of the 2-disc DVD slot, was one copy that had the red & white Target Exclusive sticker. I looked throug the rest, and it was the only copy with it. If anyone wants to know, the UPC sticker stuck on it is: 8 83929 11319 4
I also dug through the Blu-rays and managed to find one copy of the Blu-ray with the Target Exclusive UPC number posted here. So, I finally managed to pick up both the 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray Target exclusives of JL. Unfortunately, that Target throws out the slipcovers for Blu-rays in order for them to fit in the plastic anti-theft cases. So unless I can contact Warner about getting a replacement slipcover, I'm out of luck on that front.

Awhile back someone posted info/picture of the "New Moon" Barnes & Noble exclusive but I cannot find it again. Was it removed? I don't even see the exclusive on the B&N website. Was is discontinued/cancelled?

UPCs are apparently the same at Target on the regular 2/3 disc BD of 2012 and their exclusive 3/4 disc edition. Many Targets are now removing and discarding the slipcovers, which are the only way to tell the difference besides the slight extra weight. Collectors beware.
